So we are aliens and that's why Godzilla, the force of this planet, destroying us.

Ignorance and primitiveness :lol

No dummy. Godzilla is like a tornado or a flood. Somthing mankind has no control over. He's a force of nature. Thats the THEME of the whole freakin movie. Mankind thinks its in control when its not in control at all. We live earth but it doesnt belong to us like most people think. The muto are being tampered with by human scientist and radiation testing has awoken godzilla. Since they are prehistoric enemies this causes the two animals to follow there instinct and fight while mankind cowers in fear.

When did I ever say that? :dunno I mentioned about the lack of consistency in Godzilla's behavior. Either Godzilla is bipolar, or there's some sort of grounds for why he acts "evil" sometimes, but chooses to act "good" at other times.

And actually, a portion of Godzilla 101 is right here (copied from Wiki, where I got my information from :lol), where Shogo Tomiyama provided a nihilistic account on Godzilla's behavior. I think it practically negates the idea that Godzilla is driven by animalistic behaviors of territorial dominance. Although, I think you're also right with your assumption :dunno. Godzilla probably changes accordingly to suit the needs for whatever directors are handling him.

I should have stressed more that I was being a wise ass. I just thought it was funny to mention that it was Mothra that started the whole "good" Godzilla thing.

Personally I like Good and Bad Godzilla. But if you are making a modern "realistic" Godzilla film, then making him a "hero or earths protector" is not a good idea.

He can be earth's protector and man's enemy at the same time if your concept is that man tampers with nature. I believe Godzilla in this film represents man pushing against nature too much and nature pushing back. He will wipe out the mutos by his own nature, but at the same time, he will send a message to humanity that he is not to be messed with and to cease things that lead to things like the mutos.

Hey, if they wanted to make a movie about good guy Godzilla saving the day or something like a "Destroy All Monsters" remake where it's good earth monsters against bad alien controlled monsters I'd be all for it. But you have to completely embrace the culture if that is the direction you want to go in as a movie director. This one is meant to be serious, so I'll judge it seriously. If they wanted a tribute or homage to the 60's/70's Godzilla films, I'd still be excited but I'd expect more of a wild extravaganza film that's over the top.

I think this is a serious movie and even the fighting will be serious. The campiness of the Showa era came from the humans actually wanting Godzilla to show up, almost like shining the bat signal in the sky.

This movie will be more like Godzilla vs. Biollante or the other Heisei Godzilla films where Godzilla was as much a threat to humans as the other monster, and humanity was just caught in the middle as they battled it out.

Same thing here, mutos are an ancient enemy of Godzilla from his time that haven't been around for a long time, but humanity awakens them and he surfaces to end them. We see the military shooting at Godzilla, he is no friend. Serizawa's dialogue is perfect, "let them fight", he knows there's no stopping these creatures with man's weapons so the only hope is to let them fight and hope a few or all die.

Just the fact that humans are wiped out in the trailer by the Godzilla created tsunami tells you he is not a human friendly hero.

:lol

Some of my favorite shots from the new trailer and yeah, he's about to take out a bridge with school busses, he's not even kid friendly.

I like the girl in the regular dinner dress walking with Hedorah. :lol

That's my sister in law. I tried to get her to go as King Caesar, but she wouldn't have it :monkey2

That cosplay costume looks better than the actual Hedorah :lol

I know. I've been tapped to design the new Hedorah for the sequel to this film. :yess:

But it really isn't a bad costume :lol

Just saw the last trailer.

So, this went from an eerie disaster porn semi-horror movie, to another Pacific Rim but just Kaiju vs Kaiju instead of vs Robots... Strangely enough, I'm not one bit less excited about this than I was before, in fact I'm even more excited.

I really like how it has a dark, modern tone, but it also pays homage to the classics with little things.
Like how the muto flies in a straight line as if its on a wire. I would've never thought they'd do something like that.
