This seems like it's going to intertwine the human characters with the monsters without taking anything away from the plot of the film like transformers does. It seems like everything will happen without random thought.
A screening was held either today or yesterday for the press. Read at your own peril, some spoiler kind of stuff in it.

another reaction from the screening.
Reading that link I have to say that I was hoping to see a little more of the Big G.... Of course if it's the last 20 - 30 min of the film... I will be just fine
I think there's a few things to consider. While Toho's Godzilla films ran around 90 minutes each instead of the 120 minutes this movie will be, Godzilla's screen time often amounted to no more than 20-30 minutes out of the movie, some even less than that and they're some of the most highly regarded in the franchise.
Look at any classic creature film, particularly ones being mentioned in these reviews like JAWS, Alien, Jurassic Park, Predator and such, and if you break them down, the monster's screen time probably amounts to maybe 25% of the run time. The reason those films have established themselves is classics is because of the quality of the human story.
I think this Godzilla movie will be no different than what Godzilla fans are used to in terms of screen presence from Godzilla himself, and the story in between will be really well told.
If you look at the track listing for the score, I know it's not exact
Godzilla's first real appearance is in Hawaii and that's track 8 out of 20, then he has to make his way from Japan to San Francisco so there'll be a lot of non-G time between those locales, and then once he hits San Fran it's on.
It actually follows the Gojira formula somewhat, we get a brief glimpse at him first (1954), we get a short scene of him fully exposed and on the rampage (Hawaii) and then we have a prolonged destruction sequence (San Francisco).
I really don't feel concerned at all about the reports, people are being honest to help fans know what to expect, but I haven't read anyone say anything bad for his limited screen time.
I'm ok with limited screen time for Godzilla if they make everything happening in the film about the monsters and don't fluff the film with needless sub plots. That's one of the things that I loved about cloverfield, everything that happened revolved around the monster, even if the monster wasn't in it a whole lot, it felt like it was always there, same thing with the Joker in The Dark Knight, it felt like he was always there even though he was only in the movie for about 15 mins. Hell look at Predator, you just catch glimpses of the predator until he heals himself and then the end fight.
If they handle it like that I will be more than happy.
Godzilla's so faaahhhht. The second pic needs to be captioned with the message, "Haters gonna hate" .
"Today's going to be a good day..."
"You want me to do what?!"
"Ugh.. some people think they own the road..."
It's all muscle, baby!
I'm not going to lie, I hope they don't focus too much on this thing being a brawler. Seems like Edwards is really pushing for emotion and majesty, so the Muto confrontation wouldn't happen until towards the end. I think it's just that the last trailer focused ONLY on the battle-related stuff and that left a weird taste in my mouth.
Godzilla invades Italy.
