Dude its like transformers. Who the hell cares about the human characters. The movie is called godzilla not godzilla and friends. As long as godzilla is on screen recking havoc and its as epic as these reviews are saying then im happy. Have you ever seen Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla where this asain chick is literally singing to a mountain for about 30 minutes straight? If we had something like that then we have room for worry lmao. Its just your typical human fodder without Shai labauf and his annoying life.

Wrong! So, so wrong.

If this film receives the reputation that the Transformers films have in the human character department I'll be disgusted.

The Godzilla series has had MANY memorable characters over the years. You have to watch the original versions without thr goofy dubbing. The monster action has always been the climax but you need to enjoy everything on the way to that.

At this point in my life I've seen every Godzilla film so many times I CRAVE a good fresh human story. I stopped watching Godzilla films JUST for the monster action when I was like 17. Its got to have both.

I will be bumbed if I don't enjoy the Human element of this film. I have nothing against the Kick Ass actor so I am hoping I will enjoy this more then some.

If the plot itself really focuses on the monsters and it sounds like it does, then I should be good to go.

And make fun of the singing King Ceasar lady all you want. But thats old Japanese culture. Besides there are plenty of other very good characters in that same movie. It was actually a strong cast. In fact I'd say 90% of the Showa series had good human stories and colorful characters. Some are outlandish....but it is science fiction. If it's too flamboyant for you the Hesei/millennium series is more restrained (except for GvsKG and Final Wars probably).

well then the movie SHOULD be called Godzilla and friends. Seeing how we are going to spend an hour or more with his friends instead of Godzilla.

And sure, Godzilla will be great, at the end, so we are going to what? have to wait an hour playing angry birds in the theater until Godzilla shows up? :lol:lol

I guess I will have to make a mental note not to forget my phone when going to see this and check my facebook while I wait for Godzilla to show up.

godzilla isnt at the end of the movie....... hes litered throughout it just takes them awhile for the full reveal

Well, it takes about an hour to first fully see him, and once you do, that's it, and you don't really see him in full again until the last 30 minutes or so of the movie. He doesn't have a great deal of screen time. It's about the same as any past Godzilla, but there's definitely more human and muto time than Godzilla.

Yea i need to revisit the movies again. I am wrong about the human element and thats my mistake. Even so i dont think it will be bad in this movie at all. I have faith in cranston and wantanabe (spelling)

We should care about the humans. Otherwise the monster action in this has no point.

Yea i know. I said I was wrong. I wasnt thinking when I wrote that. My bad people.

Everyone likes to bring Jurassic Park and JAWS when talking about this movie.

But everyone likes to ignore how both Jurassic Park and JAWS had amazing characters. Had people I cared about. They both had great storytelling and interesting people in them.

We don't know if This movie will have that and from what I am reading it really doesn't. You cannot compare the cast in this movie with the cast of JAWS or Jurassic Park except for Walter White.

So yeah, when a movie has good characters played by great actors, 1 hour and a half will go by really fast. When you have crappy actors, it won't, it will feel like FOREVER for the monster action to happen

Man wez, don't let other people mold your opinion. You typed from the heart, don't go try and retract it because of peer pressure.

Ok I got to say this... Can we all stop comparing JAWS with anything... It's the greatest movie ever and nothing compares ;) Seriously though... While I like the characters in Jurassic Park they are not even close to the characters in JAWS... I could watch a movie about Brody, Quint, and Hooper and have no Shark in it and I would still enjoy it. Those are some Great fleshed out characters. Jurassic Park... Not so much. They were good enough that I cared that they did not get eaten by Dino's but that was about it.

Just remember JAWS >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> everything.

Well maybe when the movies comes out you'll see for yourself. They said it falls flat they didnt say it was outright terrible or boring they just werent engaging enough as in they were forgettable like the PR characters save for some like Cranston and wantnabe. I'm not expecting perfect characters nor was I to begin with but that doesnt mean it will be bad either. So why dont you see this friday and then ask yourself the same question.

Some of the reviews Ive read say kickass is the only one who isnt that interesting and they wish the lead woman had more to do. Its not like its upright horrid and I wasnt expecting JR or jaws type characters either.

Fixed in bold. :)

I do expect the characters in this to at least be as interesting as Jurassic Park. If not then we could be in for a long hour and a half until Godzilla shows up.

I was wrong on some points though. Some Godzilla movies have great human characters in them.

It's not a comparison to the actual characters, I'd agree, I like all 3 main characters from JAWS more than anyone from Jurassic, but JP also had likable characters that you cared about surviving and what happened to them. Malcom in Lost World and Grant in JP3 were highlights that probably saved those movies from being less than they are.

It's just like Predator 1 compared to AVP, the soldiers in Predator have a huge following and people really care about what happened to them and enjoyed following along their story.

That's all I expect and hope for in Godzilla. I don't expect any of the humans to be considered one of the greatest characters in cinema, but these days, movies like AVP and half the horror genre are just full of people you couldn't care less about and in a lot of cases, end up waiting for them to get killed off or go away.

Even if Aaron Taylor Johnson doesn't turn in a great acting performance, if he's good enough that you care about what happens to him, same for the other main cast members, then they did something better than a lot of other films today.
