I agree with a lot of what is said in the Red Letter Media review of Godzilla. It's not a bad movie. The monster action and effects were done very well, but once Cranston died, it was like the wind was taken out of the sails of the film and I didn't care what happened to the people that were left, and I think that's why I was left feeling kind of disappointed when the movie was over.

The build up to the battle and the military plan is what I was focussed on, ATJ reunion with his family was secondary.

I read that the film makers took inspiration for the MUTO's from different films, one being Aliens. I wonder if that inspiration also prompted the use of the same motion detector/tracker (from Aliens) used by the Military guys searching for that one MUTO in Hawaii.

Decided to revisit Cloverfield.

While the monster vs humanity was effective and there is palpable dread, the monster is shown even less than Godzilla!
