Re: Legendary Pictures' GODZILLA - May 16, 2014

Took my son to see Walking with Dinosaurs, his first 3D movie.

Forgettable movie but the effects were triple A material.

Getting him ready for Godzilla. :lol

Re: Legendary Pictures' GODZILLA - May 16, 2014

What kind of dinosaurs were those then? The carnivore ones.

That mini game is cool. Did anyone play the godzilla game for regular nintendo

It was one of my favorites as a kid, you could play as godzilla or mothra. I can't tell you how many times I've beaten that game lol

I loved Godzilla when I was a kid and thought I had to have this game.
Played it at a friend's house and never touched it again. Horrible! :slap

Glad you liked it though. I wish I did. :(

Still remember being disturbed when gigan started flying and sliced godzilla's shoulder and all this blood shoots out.

For me, it was Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla that had that effect, both the pool of blood when he first fights Mechagodzilla and then later the blood shooting out of his neck in the secnd fight. They tried to get darker again with Godzilla in the Mechagodzilla films but it wasn't enough.

Worked for me. I LOVED the original Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla. The mosnters, the mythology, the characters, the space monkeys, the spies. That movie had it all. If I'm looking for a "fun" Godzilla movie, it's this, Ebirah, Ghidrah the Three Headed Monster, or Godzilla vs. Gigan.

Destroy All Monsters is kind of boring it just has a great finale. King Kong vs Godzilla is a blast but once the lightning storm hits I can't stand how handicapped Godzilla becomes in the movie. Monster Zero is a contender too. Just fun, brainless monster action.

I have a few 90's Godzilla movies and they're ok, Space Godzilla...
Just doesn't hold the same resonance for me. Guys in monster suits throwing eachother around was better than WWF.

Has anyone seen Godzilla Fantasia? I liked it.

Well it worked for me, I just meant the overall status of the franchise, 2 Mechagodzilla films and then he wasn't heard from again for 9 years.

Yeah, overall the Hesei films are alright. The bestbeing Godzilla vs Biollante and the worst probably being Space Godzilla. I just feel like they were all over the place in tone and theme. In a span of 10 years Godzilla goes from total atomic destroyer to depressed mother who wants to be left alone. That, with the Power Ranger-esque messages shoved down our throats in the cheesiest possible ways just made those films hard to go back and watch in recent years. And it had the creepy Pterodactyl guy.

Showa films had that as well, but they were more imaginative. If they were going to make a grim, horrific monster film they were going to go all-out. If they were going to make a fun monster battle royale, they didn't disappoint. They want a sci-fi film with aliens and spies, they were going to make a legendary cult classic. They relied on other means to make their points. I'm done rambling...

I loved Mothra vs. Godzilla. I still consider that one of the more serious, darker films in the series. Godzilla's so evil. The visit to the island with the atom bomb testing was haunting and tragic. Godzilla's Revenge has some sweet qualities....but I despise that film.

The ones I find painful to sit through:

I feel like the only monster who gave Godzilla a true beating was the first Mechagodzilla. He really got his *** kicked to the point where he needed help and even that almost wasnt enough. It also shows that it takes alot to take godzilla down.
