While it's definitely a good idea of what he looks like, I can tell just from trailer stills that the spines on this toy are much smaller than in the movie, and they're almost generic as they don't match specific looks, and I think his neck's a bit too upright as the profile shot in the trailer shows more curve to his profile. This will help a lot with my art though.

Just looking at your sig... tells me that the spines on the toy are too small.

I'd guess this toy is somewhere around 60-75% accurate to his final look, I think you can bank on some of the fine details but posture and scales definitely are adjusted. Not only is it a kid toy, but if it is the JAKKS figure, they have to design it to take up minimal shelf space in the stores.

Today's progress, focused on building the spines.

:lecture The curve from the top of his head, running down his back seems too perfect. Too geometric, if that makes any sense.
I think it would look more like a creature if there was a way to clearly differentiate the head from the neck and the spine.

As it is, it looks as though the back is just an extension of his head.

Not that I could get anywhere near as creative, but just trying to give some feedback.

Ok guys, This is from NECA. Part of my posting this is to solve the mystery as to WHO was making the 24 inch figure. To my knowledge, NECA doesn't make 24 inch figures so it was a little confusing. Jakks is still making the 31 inch figure as well so it looks like we'll have a couple of big Godzilla's out there

"Godzilla 12" Head To Tail Action Figure - Series 1
From one of the most anticipated movie releases this year, the relaunch of the classic Godzilla franchise. This 6" tall figure is highly detailed and fully articulated, and over 12" long from head to tail! Over 25 points of articulation and a bendable tail. This classic movie monster has never looked so good in toy form. "

"Godzilla 24" Head to Tail Action Figure

Preorders already!!! Now I have a strong hunch we'll see stuff at Toy Fair!!! :rock

Not likely, Randy tweeted recently that there's not much chance the new Godzilla can be shown at Toy Fair, just classics, it'd be awesome if that changed but March has been the big reveal month for all merchandise.
