Re: LEGO Star Wars - anyone?

It's almost comical how much more detailed they are than the previous versions (look at the old Jabba and Gamorrean Guard for example). I think it shows that LEGO in general may be changing their aesthetic a bit.

Re: LEGO Star Wars - anyone?

LEGO really has made some great changes in the recent past. Such as giving some of their minifigs actual fle___ones, new hairpieces, more detailing and paint on the bodies, arms and legs. Not to mention the updated and new astromech designs. Also the more intricate vehicle designs.

Re: LEGO Star Wars - anyone?

People _____ about the price but LEGO brings the quality, they use the BEST ABS plastic available and they continue to push the limits of their little bricks.

Re: LEGO Star Wars - anyone?

And I'm stilll unsure how they can have so many tiny pieces, yet I've never bought new a set that was missing anything :huh

Re: LEGO Star Wars - anyone?

I think the best thing about Legos is they are perhaps the one toy company that still has all of their original 1970's/80's charm.

Look at Hasbro SW figures compared to their vintage Kenner counterparts. They might as well be completely separate licenses. Lego minifigures have been updated amazingly but still look like they stepped right out of any of the classic sets we had as kids. That's just awesome.

Re: LEGO Star Wars - anyone?

The Gammy is almost too good, though. I can accept the Bib as a "Lego" but the Gammy, too much sculpt in the sculpt.

Re: LEGO Star Wars - anyone?

When did they stop using the yellow skin for Star Wars legos and start using the normal skin tone? I have a few of the sets from when they first started and they have yellow skin.

Re: LEGO Star Wars - anyone?

Pfft, the old ones are still cool.

I don't think anybody was denying that. I think people are just impressed with how well LEGO has improved upon the original minifig while still keeping the original minifig. Or at least that's what I'm saying.

I believe they switched over in 2008 sometime. Not 100% sure about that though. But I know for a fact that there were some SW minifigs released in 2008 that still had the yellow skin, it says so in my LEGO Star Wars Character Encyclopedia. So maybe all the new sets for 2009 and onward no longer had the yellow skin.

Re: LEGO Star Wars - anyone?

I collect the UCS sets. Because some of them have jumped into the stratosphere price-wise, I downloaded inventories and then ordered the parts to build the sets. I managed to put together the UCS Death Star, snowspeeder and y-ing doing this. I have the parts for the Falcon, but haven't started yet.

:welcome to the :FREAK:show Pat, hope you survive the experience!
I luv the UCS sets but unfortunately didn't start collecting them until after the X-Wing came out, so I missed it. I've got all the rest of them but just couldn't afford the Falcon when it came out and sure as heck can't afford it now. I've considered doing the same thing that you're doing so I picked up the instructions for the Falcon. How much did it cost you to get the parts to put together the Falcon? Did you use bricklink? Isn't the Death Star II just :thud:? I've got mine displayed proudly on top of the cabinet above my kitchen sink and on top of my tower speakers on either side of my TV I've got the awesome Snowspeeder and sleek Imperial Shuttle.:rock2

I like where this guy's head is at, welcome!

Re: LEGO Star Wars - anyone?

That's a good plan, but using the UCS SD as a reference even if you used Bricklink (awesome site) as your resource some of those parts will cost a good chunk. Still WAY cheaper than buying one complete, you would just need some patience.
