Finally finished! I took some quick photos, but the lighting sucks at night. :(

That looks awesome, Chien! :rock

I didn't even have time to finish the Black Gate last night. :lol I'm going to need a second set, for sure.

It's an amazing set FLOSI! Pictures can't even describe how massive it is. I had to stand up and build it as i had it on the table to finish the top spires.

I saw this today in person and now I want it. :(
Fantastic! I bet it's fun to put together.

It's drool worthy, that's for sure.... I'm going to leave it till Christmas and see if I can get it on sale.

I was pretty happy with the Black Gates set. The PPP is less than .10 cents each, lots of detail and texture in the wall and some cool new minifigs makes it a winner. I noticed some people on other pages giving reviews that stated the set was small, but for 60 bucks it's a damn good size and heavy as all hell!! I'm going to need a second, no doubt. Just wondering if I should just buy a whole second set and sell the minifigs or not (or at least GTW, Aragorn and the Mouth of Sauron).

Flosi, I am seriously thinking about picking up another Gates as well. They look really cool combined.

I picked up the Black Gates, Council of Elrond and the Pirate Ambush sets last night on the way home from work. Only had a chance to put the Council set together and it is really a nice looking set. Would love for them to make some more Rivendell stuff...maybe something with the Shards of Narsil.

I am really hoping that lego is able to go deep with the Lord of the Rings like they have done with Star Wars. I can think of a number of sets that would be fun to have.

From the Fellowship
Prancing Pony
Green Dragon
Stone Trolls
Shards of Narsil
Doors of Moria / Watcher in the Water
Lothlorien
Anduin / Argonath
Amon Hen

Two Towers
Eaves of Fangorn
Treebeard
Golden Hall / Possesed Theoden
Wargs vs Rohan
Another pack for Helms Deep (maybe the morning charge)
Ent Moot
Oliphant
Faramir's cave (I can't remeber the name of it)
Osgiliath (spelling?)

Return of the King
Minas Tirith (multiple sets?)
Seige Towers
Witchking and Fellbeast vs Eowyn
Plennor Fields
Minas Morgul
Cracks of Doom
Grey Havens

Just wondering if I should just buy a whole second set and sell the minifigs or not (or at least GTW, Aragorn and the Mouth of Sauron).

I did this when it first came out. I parted out GTW, Aragorn, Mouth of Sauron/black horse, and the Eagle and made about $50 on just those. The Black Gate and orcs only ended up costing $10 and I will buy a second one on sale down the road to make a larger set.

Broke down and picked up a 2nd gate on my lunch break. Looking forward to putting them together tonight.

Edit: put both gates together last night and they look great together. My son immediately pronounced it was his favorite out of all our new sets. The Mouth of Sauron figure us ten kinds if awesome - so are GTW and Aragorn - but Mouth of Sauron is freaky even as a minifig. Definitely worth it to add the 2nd set.

I was playing around with those three minifigs and Sarumon last night. I love how much character Lego can get on the heads with just a few lines. GTW and Sarumon with their beards covering 1/2 their faces both still look so different depending upon which face is being used. I like the kind face for Gandalf. :)

Anyway, those are already a few of my very favorite minifigs ever. Love Aragorn's two tone cape.

Yeah the double sided capes are great. The amount of detail they can achieve now on this little figures is just crazy. I think the Mouth of Sauron is in my top 3 or 4 LotR mini figures. So cool to get a relatively minor character like him so soon...or even at all I guess.

Just got four Mordor Orcs on eBay for 15 shipped... Now I just need a couple more Uruks.

Nice grab. Wish I had seen that. I really want to pick up some more orcs. I splurged and got Orthanc ordered it will have to be save for my birthday 4 months from now but at least I will have it at some point. :panic:
