Re: ENTERBAY SUCKS

I understand why you think that, but its just not how the world works. eBay is not a vendor, its an open public auction/market. Companies just cant be held responsible for things handed down then sold (new or old items) in public auctions/markets. It would be impossible to police but also companies have no financial ties, contracts, insurance or anything with eBay or the sellers. Products aren't just put randomly in stores whenever something is made, they have contracts with who will sell their items.

For the most part I think HTs does the best it can for product QC issues. They are a small company, they make a limited amount of their products and as far as i can tell they don't have staff that are there just to fix their items, like tech support. If something is broken and its bought through a legit vendor, they should take returns for exchanges or refunds. In most cases they seem to do that especially if you bought with Sideshow. Most cases get resolved, but there are cases i know & heard sometimes they cant fix it either due to no more stock available or its a question mark if the buyer broke it on his own which is tricky situation when it comes to any item you buy anywhere.

Also mass produced items whether its 500, 1000, 10,000, or 100,000qty will have QC issues. its impossible to have 100% perfect product every single time. Things go wrong in manufacturing, its just the nature of the beast.

But Enterbay is a different story right now because it seems like they have major QC issues with a lot of product not just a few pieces here & there and its very difficult to get intouch with them. Even their official vendors can't.

So my theory is if you know a company is having issues like they have with their products, just dont buy from them. They arent forcing people to buy from them. Its just not worth the hassle until we see improvements. And they probably wont be inclined to make improvements if people just keep buying. Complaining on forums do nothing if people continue buying from them.

Its like when you buy a car and it gave you nothing but trouble for a few years, most people next time they buy a car will buy a different car made from a different company.

Just because EB makes the only 1/6 Jordan doesnt mean you have to buy it if the product is lousy. Its just not worth it.

Just my 2 cents....:lol

But then I could easily say that Enterbay are new and even smaller and do not have the resourses.

I don't disagree with you on EB QC at all but you are extending Hot Toys some benefit of the doubt when Enterbay is getting none which I don't think is unfair.

This is my beef with the idea of this thread.

If the thread saidt hat Enterbay need to sort it out then, I probably wouldn't even be posting here.

Re: ENTERBAY SUCKS

Although, sadly, these figures don't have lifetime warranties, so things like colour fade, rubber deterioration, rust, & other problems that only show over time, are things collectors should already know to take on the chin.

"Over time"? Dude, Iron Man VI is not an old figure by any stretch.
It was costly and it faded over a year. This is a plain QC problem and retailers have nothing at all to do with it.

You guys are just not being fair!

Both companies need an *** kicking for QC. EB more perhaps but that still doesn't let HT off the hook which you all seem to be doing.

Re: ENTERBAY SUCKS

Yep, having QC problems show after a few months, with retailers & HT, SSC, or EB, not willing to help, is not fair.

You seem to think I'm siding with HT, or that I'm letting their QC issues slide. I'm not.

HT simply have the advantage of having retailers handle customer complaints directly for them. EB on the other hand, have an online store which sells internationally, directly to the public themselves. They already are at a disadvantage, having to deal with each & every individual customer complaint themselves. So when things don't get handled in a timely manner, customers go crazy in here :lol

Considering what we pay for these we really should be getting Apple level of costumer care here!

I am hard pressed to find any product in that price range that has such little costumer care as these high-end toy makers.

You'd probably get better care buying a flippen food blender!

I'm glad you made the distinction. I might have thought your were talking about Neil Blender.

Re: ENTERBAY SUCKS

Warranties are something they should look at, at least in terms of the obvious working parts. For example, something doesn't light up - that should be under warranty. A body breaks right out of the package - under warranty. The paint chips or fades during a warranty period - under warranty.

On the opposite end are those things clearly not covered. I don't think the costume is movie accurate enough - not under warranty. The head sculpt looks like a cosplay character - not under warranty.

Of course, there'd be gray issues, but if they spelled out the warranty well enough it would work. Sadly, a company the size of Enterbay would be hard pressed to do something like this BUT, and I want everyone to pay special attention here, something like this could be the perfect market differentiator. One of the smaller companies want to make themselves a name with the big boys? Look into seeing what it would take to be the first to offer a warranty. Sideshow did something very similar with both their level of customer support and their online sales. Getting something like this to set yourself apart is key - now let's see if they're listening.

And Eamon, this might be a great topic for the next podcast.

Re: ENTERBAY SUCKS

LoL. You cant compare Apple with HTs or EB. They have millions of employees, they have huge customer care centers all over the world. They make BILLIONS in profit. If Apple was the size of HTs or EB, their computers would cost a zillion dollars. :lol

I take your point but when I say 'apple level of care', I am just referring to actually giving a crap about costumers.

Though I do wonder how big Hot Toys actually is...especially when you see the promotions they do in East Asia like Iron Man 3 Hot Toys billboard posters the size of buildings....not a sign of a small company!

Costumers are a big fans of EB and HT.

If you plan on opening your figures on arrival, you won't need a figure warranty for these problems. Good retailers would already have a return/exchange policy for these things.

Something like this might come under "normal wear & tear" if figures did come with warranties. Which would pretty much make them useless :lol

I'd welcome figure warranties, it's good for customers. But come on, do you think these companies want to deal with the hassle of adding warranties? They're figures are selling without them, they don't care :lol

Re: ENTERBAY SUCKS

Firstly, no one is saying Hot Toys ain't the *****!! :)

The other thing you have to consider too is communication issues. They are from Hong Kong. They have a different culture there. You can tell even with their press releases sometimes certain things don't seem translated correctly.

I think that's good point to make and I would go further and suggest that they don't have culture where they challenge something they don't like which I think could be a factor also.

Re: ENTERBAY SUCKS

Well as the case with many things and any Masters of the Universe fan will know this all too well, you can have amazing people making a great product but when you have bad business operations, it can become hard to stay that positive about that product....through no fault of the creatives.

I'm not responsible for answering this, take your queries straight to a Sideshow Freaks moderator .....
They are fans of these movies just like us
Kinda random, but I thought some peeps might find this interesting. When the HT sculptors were asked who they would like to make, these were their answers:

Yulli - Herself, JFK
K A Kim - Parents
Kojun - Star Wars Jedi
Lee So Young - ET
Yumi - Josh Hartnett
TJ - Stephen Chow

Yeah. Random post :lol
