Not really? we just don't find it acceptable to use paper parts (and now no parts at all) on such expensive "screen accurate" collectables. And yes, the prototypes do look very nice, unfortunately the production pieces look like crap!

*sigh* as I suspected... the production run was already going by the time they even saw my review... What a joke.

Surely they can still improve on the lenses????
I just dont understand how SS can get it so wrong 3 times
in a row..:banghead

Looks like my wolf bio will be a stand alone piece.
And I wanted the Celtic bio so bad, but I refuse to buy it.
Such a shame.

I emailed SS last night after seeing the pic and giving my opinion and asking for a discount and this is what they wrote........
"Dear Mike,
I’m sorry that you are disappointed in the new Chopper Predator Mask Prop Replica. What I think a lot of people don’t understand is that when we release Prop Replicas they are replicated down to the exact detail of the prop we were given by the licensor. Keep in mind that while filming movies, many different versions are created for different aspects of the filming process, be it close ups, back ground or functionality depending on whatever is needed for whatever certain scene. What ever version is sent to us by the studios or licensor is what our artists painstakingly recreate, as I said, down to the very last detail.

Sideshow and ADI, who worked with us on recreating the masks, do not want the fans to feel that we are cutting corners so I hope this information helps with the understanding of what goes into creating these pieces. Again I am sorry that you are disappointed, but unfortunately we won’t be able to discount the mask for you. I can tell you that if you order it, and upon arrival if you are not totally satisfied, feel free to take advantage of our 30 day Product Guarantee Policy. Which simply put says that if you are not satisfied for any reason, return the product and we will refund you less the shipping costs. If you’re not sure you’re going to love it, pre order it to secure your piece and feel free to cancel it at any time. I would advise you to pre order the NON flex pay version so you don’t get charged with any cancellation fees, you can always convert it to Flex later when you decided you want to keep it. I can tell you, we will be showing items that I’m sure will blow you away at comic con and maybe you’d be more comfortable waiting to see if there other items you’d like to save your money for.

Thank you for your email, and for your feedback. If you have any further questions, as always please feel free to contact me directly. " :(

Well bear in mind this stuff is produced and packed months before it's received... In fact they probably start packing the shipping containers in China for the long boat ride to the USA and EU 45 - 60 days before they arrive in the US. When you get that "coming in 20 days" notice from Sideshow, the goods are already on a boat in the middle of the Ocean ;)

big FAIL, although Im not surprised

PASS on this one for me.
And I firmly believe that comic con will make everyone forget about all of the stuff currently available for preorder right now on the site. Its going to be an expensive con this year

This is the same basic reply i got, It is a load of rubbish, no stunt or hero version had painted lenses!!! Why are they trying to defend their actions? they know these bio's look cheap and they know that we want all of this to stop already!!!!!

well, to their defense, aren't they just phone representatives? I'm sure they're just given typical responses to copy and paste to the same old complaints customers have over something. I don't really know what answers you guys expect from them. You need to talk to the higher ups if you want change or the best way for them to get the message is don't buy

This answer seems to have come from higher up, the only other responce iv ever recieved in the past was to say that they are passing my message on or they will give a refund. Oh and i didn't get my answer from a customer service agent this time, Alec Gillis passed my details onto someone involved and i got the same basic answer dragged out a bit further....

Sideshow seem to have woken up a little bit and atleast recognised that weve had enough instead of pleading ignorance, they just don't seem to be doing anything about it :( I really hope things change, it would be a shame for the line to end on such a low, 1 out of 4 isn't a great record.....

Or maybe ADI sucks, and for some reason they would rather the masks be painted? ^^^^ happens.

I'm just sayin.

Yeah, and I'm not laughing. I agree that SS needs to just create chopper however way their planning to, and get it right out of their system.

If they create more products from the original movies, (and I'm sure they will) they need to take a step back and try to reconnect with their predator fan base.

None of us want to see them continue this trend. However, if they decide to continue with this cheap path, then I wouldn't really care if they made any predator collectibles again.

Do it right or don't do it at all.

Exactly, i think we'd all rather have nothing than this rubbish. Atleast (cough) HCG (cough) Seem to be in a good position to take over if sideshow really don't care about us predy fans. I know there first bio being the stunt version of the P2 mask isn't loved by everyone due to it's differences to the more recognised hero mask (different colour, larger gaps in lenses etc etc) but it is incredibly accurate to the original prop and i like the stunt version to be honest, atleast they seem to be doing it right and no sign of paper or painted lenses!!! We may see a hero version from them later on (fingers crossed!) And im still holding out hope that they will re-release their P1 bio in this more simplified fashion, i.e with just a wall mountable stand as opposed to the huge base.

All that said, id love to see sideshow turn things around, stop cheating their customers and put out the rest of the bio's with proper lenses and better paint jobs. Elder please........

I dunno. Does it look painted in the movie?

normal_avpbluray309.jpg

It is paint, but it's paint behind an oakley lens which gives it a reflective quality that the sideshow bio's don't have.

Yep, they did pretty much exactly what I posted in my Celtic lens tutorial... plastic with the paint on the back of it. Looks like I'll need to upgrade this one too lol!
