It is a little crazy that Lim hasn’t released any new 1/6 in a solid two years then. I think Arthur originally released in the middle of 2022. But that stresses the importance of these later batches of Arthur figures, no doubt it’s a good cash influx into the company.

I’m sure Nate and John sold well and hopefully with Connor wrapping up at some point they’ll have a clean slate to kick off some new projects.
they have full time jobs bruh.

I imagine 1/12 is harder to produce than 1/6, no? There’s much more detail going into painting the headsculpts and clothes on smaller scale would be harder to produce. Despite them being just as hard to produce as 1/6 if not harder there’s also the much lower pricepoint for 1/12 figures and less sales. 1/12 never seemed like a profitable market to me. I wonder if that’s why Lim is switching to 1/6 only (for now atleast).

R_R_X just had a really interesting post about this over in the Resident Evil thread, I can link it if you want. He was saying how 1/12 is tough because it doesn’t cost much less than 1/6 to make but you need to sell it for cheaper because it’s a smaller product. So you’re basically spot on.

InArt is going fully sculpted everything on their 1/12 to raise funds, because that’s much cheaper to produce. Easy to see why companies like Lim don’t want to dive too far into 1/12 now.

oh no wonder 3A went from 1/6 to 1/12. they wanted to give their customers better bang for their buck i stead of more profit. 😊

I really wish some other 1/6 companies would do that... Re-releasing figures that have sold well. That way people wouldn't have to swallow the insane prices on ebay for sold out stuff...
I mean, I get why big name brands like Hot Toys and InArt or Blitzway wouldn't. But brands like MT and such could really benefit from it... Just my 2 cents...
It's not always the best business model. Mars Toys has fallen prey to this with their DX08 KO and Romero Joker. Both got reissues b/c of the outcry of supposed demand for them; so, Mars reissued those figures and each time, the reissue stock sat for a very long time. The amount of ppl who claimed they would buy the figure(s) if only Mars would reissue did not equal the ppl who actually followed through causing stock to just sit around. Not to mention, once the reissues hit, you could get them much cheaper on the secondary market still brand new for cheaper than retailer pricing which made them sit even longer at retailers.

I think these 3rd Party companies have to/should really consider the pros and cons of reissues as I don't think it's as simple as seeing online chatter as that online chatter doesn't 100% convert to sales made.

Don't 3rd parties take orders from retailers in advance? Meaning excess inventory is the retailer's problem for ordering too many units. Mars Toys got their money even if their Joker sits in stock forever.

I’d rather have something new than the same thing over and over again. If you know how this hobby works you also know if you want something, to buy it now.
Same, nothing comes in my head I’d wish it to be reissued. I think I’ve got everything I wanted and as you said you need to get stuff once it’s announced. I’m happy with Hot Toys 2.0 releases but third parties better focus on new stuff and keep the releases unique.

retailers will take in less stock next time because they got stuck last time.

Out of curiosity, how long does the box process take? I believe it was said a few months ago that you guys were working on the box - do you guys only design it as you're finishing a figure? Do all of the hands and accessories and such need to be cast and completed before you finish the plastic piece on the inside? I'm assuming the answer is yes, considering you need to know what size the holes need to be so everything stays in place securely. I've always wondered how that part of the process works.

Everything needs to be finished in order to make the box, otherwise you run the risk of making a box that doesn't have the correct measurements for the items in it. This one took a little longer to design since it's a bit different than what LIM has done in the past.

Good to know. I always figured the box was the last step, however, I wasn't sure if you took measurements of the "master" piece of whatever needs to go in the box (hands, weapons, accessories, etc) and made the box while all of those pieces were being casted so everything was ready all together. Nice to learn something about the production process.

Interesting to see this is a different box style for Lim, I'm excited to see what you guys came up with.

The master piece/prototype should never be used to make a box as many things can change throughout production and a lot of prototypes are usually not sturdy enough to go through the manufacturing of the plastic layers. For Nathan that wasn't really an issue but final production pieces are still required to make sure everything fits in the right place.

I quite like the design of the box, it's clever and LIM will likely use it for future figures.

Neat - this is why I missed having you around. It's little things like this that I think are really interesting. I know obviously the end game is having our toys on the shelf to look at but I always did find the little insights into the production process to be really cool. I absolutely would have thought you used the master piece to make the box with, not the production pieces, so that's something I learned here.

Thanks. Can't wait to see Nate and John. Hope there will be some insights on what's next for Lim soon.

I also forgot to mention that LIM also included a couple of extra accessories so had the box been done with the prototype, it would've been impossible to include them. The box and instructions are actually the very last step of production, or more accurately, the final thing that the brand has to do for the figure. After the boxes and instructions are produced, everything gets QC'd and packaged and the factory gets ready for shipping.

More will be revealed when the time is right, LIM made the mistake of showing it's hand too early in the past, creating false expectations and frustrating everyone. Going forward there will be much longer intervals between announcements/teasers/information but it will be worth it.

I will support Lim till the day I die, nothing but complete trust and faith,
