I also forgot to mention that LIM also included a couple of extra accessories so had the box been done with the prototype, it would've been impossible to include them. The box and instructions are actually the very last step of production, or more accurately, the final thing that the brand has to do for the figure. After the boxes and instructions are produced, everything gets QC'd and packaged and the factory gets ready for shipping.
I didn't even think of it like that. I'm so used to companies like Hot Toys and Damtoys making exactly what they show when a product goes up for PO that I never considered a company like Lim that might decide to add more during production. But, now I see why you make it after everything is cast and why the box is the last step.

More will be revealed when the time is right, LIM made the mistake of showing it's hand too early in the past, creating false expectations and frustrating everyone. Going forward there will be much longer intervals between announcements/teasers/information but it will be worth it.
This is the best approach for you guys. As a fan of Lim, it gets draining watching people spew nonsense and make unfounded claims just because you're past a due date. It frustrates me too, but I know what you deliver and why it's worth the wait. It's a shame the majority of people can't see it like that, regardless, I can only imagine how much it frustrates you guys. So, I understand why you're changing your approach.

Longer intervals between announcements should, I assume, mean shorter times between announcement and delivery, which is definitely what you guys need right now, so this is the best way of doing things.

The one thing I would like to ask you though - what ever happened that female body you guys were developing a while ago? I'm hoping because it's not about a specific figure like Dutch or Joel or whatever that maybe you can answer, but I know you guys had been working on a female body to start doing some female figures. Is that still ongoing? Did you shelf that? Did you finish it and you're planning figures to use it on? I am very curious to know what happened with that, if you can share anything about it.

LIM and Master Team are researching and developing a female body together now, Master Team actually already has their own proprietary female body but they are researching stronger materials for seamless bodies while LIM is looking to PVC alternatives. This partnership is beneficial for both brands and will aid in the making of a highly requested female figure.

Also LIM has already designed and cast their very first 1/6 female body which was excellent for experience, it's just not an adult body.

Chloe Frazier….

(Just kidding I’m sure that means Lara Croft or Sadie Adler, lol)

I figured you guys had done this for Ellie and quite honestly I had been figuring this was a main reason for the long delay before the announcement. That’s very exciting. As you said, the experience means a lot.

I think the talk of the adult female body had come up in the Aloy thread a while back. I don’t know what your plans are for Aloy and I’m not asking you to discuss, however, if you guys and Master Team are working on an adult female body, does that mean what you had been working on when it was mentioned in that Aloy thread has been scrapped? Just wondering if you completely went back to the drawing board.

There's two main reasons for the delay, the first one is LIM completely scrapped what was already done and reworked the figures from scratch, which involved redesigning Ellie's body multiple times. The old Joel sculpt that was teased was discarded as well and looks horrible compared to the final one. The second and biggest reason however is everything has been getting cast these past couple of years, to ensure everything is the way it should be and production can begin pretty much immediately after pre-orders open. The promotional pictures will also feature final production pieces of sculpts and accessories, just with master paint which is always inferior to LIM's final production paint anyway.

I think what you're trying to ask is if Aloy was scrapped along with the body or if this new body LIM and MT are developing together means it has delayed the potential Aloy figure, right? Well I'll reveal something and hope people don't interpret it wrongly. LIM and MT are collaborating together to make the Aloy figure, any previous plans for her were scrapped, she'll have the default Nora outfit now. The female body that's being developed will be used on her and any future female figures from LIM or MT. This does not mean she is coming any time soon, it means that she is not scrapped and is in active development.

So I was actually just using the Aloy figure as a point of reference to ask about the female body - as I recall the female body was discussed as being in development when there was talk of an Aloy figure being a possibility. I know the big RnD challenge was the hair, but it was all on hold until the female body was finished. This was definitely before Forbidden West came out, so it has been a couple of years and I was just curious as to what ever happened with the female body.

Obviously, part of that was curiosity about potential Aloy/Sadie/Chloe/Elena figures. I'm not trying to ask for those figures by bringing that up - but I was curious that as you pump out Dutch/Joel/Ellie/Sully/whatever else you have planned, what the possibility of a few female characters was, so I've been curious as to what ever happened to the female body.

That's really cool that you guys are working with Master Team to make Aloy though. Zero Dawn is one of my favorite games ever, I love the lore and the mystery in that game, slowly unraveling what happened to the Old World. Would definitely buy Aloy, the Nora outfit is 100% the way to go. It's simple enough to mass produce and absolutely carries the essence of the character, despite all the other cool options along the way.

Can't wait to see what you come up with. I know it's probably going to be a year or two before she materializes but I know it'll be well worth the wait.

What I wouldn't give to see a Limtoys Lara Croft. 🤩
Same. As in the next game she has a modernized classic look I think we’ll get some figure offers.

Is horizon franchise more popular than Tomb Raider as Lim is working on Aloy? I have bought both games and tried only first one, gave up after few hours. Not for me. But I think figure will be interesting, happy for the fans.

Horizon Zero Dawn is the best selling PS4 game ever. It sold over 20 million copies, edging out God of War and The Last of Us Part II as the best selling PS4 game. Forbidden West didn't perform as well, but franchise sales are over 30 million units and there's talk of TV show spin offs and additional games coming. There's already been a VR game and a Lego game as well.

Zero Dawn alone has outsold Rise and Shadow of the Tomb Raider combined, so yes, Horizon is absolutely as popular, if not more popular than Tomb Raider these days.

I haven't seen much merchandise. Might go back to it one day.

I liked Horizon Zero dawn, throughly enjoyed the playthrough. I'm guessing Horizon just isn't as popular to collect merch for, also a very tricky character with so much intricate detail that takes extra work.

It's been said that Sony IPs are tough to get licenses for. Much like R*, Sony has gotten pretty protective of their products. I think there was an IP (R_R_X, correct me if I'm wrong) that Lim tried to get the license for and it was just stupid expensive, and then you have the added headache of needing approval for everything.

It's not just Horizon - you don't really see merch for God of War or The Last of Us or Uncharted. There just isn't much out there regardless of franchise. Game merch doesn't really seem to be popular like movie/show merch.

Just preordered this at OSK. Is it safe even though it states this? My first time ordering from them. I hear good things about them. My preorder should be secured?

PRE ORDER

Cut off 12th Mar 2023

I feel like it's pretty obvious that the market for video game merch is going to skew younger than the market for movie merch. It's a different generation that grew up with Uncharted than Indiana Jones, and for the past decade, that generation was going to have much less buying power. I think the market is shifting, and hopefully more companies are willing to give video game figures another shot. It seems like a lot of them got burned a decade ago and haven't gone back since, but I think releasing a Nathan Drake in 2014 is like releasing an Anakin Skywalker in 2014. Of course it will have sold less than one released in 2024 will.

For my part, when Sideshow released their Nathan Drake, buying a $60 dollar game was a purchase I had to budget around. I was never gonna buy a $200 figure. Today I have thousands of dollars of video game figures on preorder. And yet it's almost all unlincensed third party product. I'm here, I'm ready to spend, and there's nothing to buy.

I'm just wistfully remembering the days when a QS statue was under $400...

I think he mentioned in another thread, it was Capcom. And for video games, I know that was sucks, but I kinda understand why they are protective of it.
