Just preordered this at OSK. Is it safe even though it states this? My first time ordering from them. I hear good things about them. My preorder should be secured?

OSK is the best there is. The figure is releasing soon - you’ll be just fine with your order!

Horizon Zero Dawn is the best selling PS4 game ever. It sold over 20 million copies, edging out God of War and The Last of Us Part II as the best selling PS4 game. Forbidden West didn't perform as well, but franchise sales are over 30 million units and there's talk of TV show spin offs and additional games coming. There's already been a VR game and a Lego game as well.

Zero Dawn alone has outsold Rise and Shadow of the Tomb Raider combined, so yes, Horizon is absolutely as popular, if not more popular than Tomb Raider these days.
Not trying to say it isn’t a popular game. It very much is.

But I think the main reason why HZD sold so many copies is because I remember the price going from $60 to $20 after only a year since release. And it was completely free for all Playstation users a few years ago for a few months. I recall because that’s how I got the game. Another factor is that it was one of the first PS4 exclusive to have a PC port and I think that generated new hype around it. Because of the great graphics I think a portion of players played this game to test out their machines capabilities, because it was cheap or free. And it was a pretty good overall game.

So despite being a good game, with great graphics. The franchise doesn’t nearly have the strongest fanbase that other games have that have sold less. And the die hard fans are the people who are gonna buy merch like statues and figures at the end of the day. I know its not exactly an accurate metric but if we look at reddit community numbers, Horizon has only 60k members on their reddit. While the last of us has 2 million and god of war has 1 million. Now those franchises have existed for well over a decade so maybe not a fair comparison, okay let’s compare to a failed playstation exclusive, days gone that was released around the same time. Even the game Sony considers a fail has 114k members.

Personally, I found Horizon boring. The acting in the cutscenes was very stoic. Especially in those dialogue option scenes where characters just stand still with their mouth just opening and closing. Really took me out of it. The world mostly being filled with the same few enemies. I played around 20h before giving it a rest.

I really wanted to like it, because the game is by a Dutch developer. And I am Dutch. We really don’t have a gaming industry here, like at all. So this game being as massive as it is is really something unique for our country. Aloys face is also based on a Dutch model. And she’s voiced by Ashley Burch of course who I’m a huge fan of because of her work in several other games. But despite all this, I could personally not get into it.
