Is anyone else experiencing this right now?

I've been a gamer for as long as I can remember, since about age 4 when I first got my NES. But now lately I really have no urge to flick the consoles on. I last bought Limbo because it was different and fresh, but after beating it and getting most of the achievements I'm left in the same spot. I no longer care about getting the most kills in COD online, nor seeing how many trophies or achievements I can get.

I played a lot of Blur and then lost interest, I played a few hours into the new Red Dead and haven't went back since. I cruised my gaming shelves of PS3, 360, and PS2 games thinking one might catch my eye and I'd want to pop it in and replay it or work on some trophies or achievements....but nothing.

I'm not sure if it's the lack of any good games coming out right now, or if finally I am growing out of gaming all together. Has anyone else ever been in this sort of mind set? Obviously if it was a sort of phase you wouldn't be in the gaming section of the forum.

I'm not so sure it's lack of time, because I'm sitting here online when I could as easily be playing any game and game console I own.

You guys think it's possible that I'm just over them completely?:(

I'm not loosing intrest per say but I definately have not been playing as many games as I used too and it's not because a lack of games that interest me as there are plenty of games I still need to get. I think it's part growing up and part because of lack of funds (mainly lack of funds though :lol)

I'm sure every game having a special edition or collectors edition out doesn't help either. Not to say they are ever worth it though.

It just sucks because I don't want to lose interest in this hobby I've had for 20 plus years, but it seems no matter what I want to believe...it's going to happen sooner or later.

I've actually been feeling this a lot lately. I even pulled the same thing with Limbo as you. Played it, had a lot of fun with it, and just ended up where I started. It might just be the summer drought or something, I don't know.

I have been finding myself going back to a couple older games, I played through a Link to the past not too long ago and then after that I played an older, bit more obscure PS1 RPG (lunar silver star story).

I think once the blitzkrieg of fall titles starts I may find my mood changing.:dunno

Maybe. I even went back to try some oldies but I had no interest, some where just like cartoons as a child. The memories far exceed the actual game.

I fear that even if I get some titles this fall, I'll be back at square one.

Have a break. This has happened to me , probably playing to much.
It's like going on holiday ( vacation ? :lol ) somewhere awesome but if you move there , after a year it's probably gonna suck. :rotfl

I dunno man.

I'll get Force Unleashed 2 play for two weeks at the most and then be done with it?

It seems the memories I have with gaming are far enough to keep me happy without buying the next new and best game out anymore. My memories of Mario Bros. on the NES with my cousin, to Donkey Kong Country, FFVII, to Mario Kart with the neighborhood crew, to MGS all the way through to those long nights of COD4 and Nazi Zombies with buddies can last me a lifetime of happiness.

:lecture

Also had a break of 2 years, when I just moved out of my parents. I missed it, and started enjoying the games again. Take a break. :hi5:

Well I haven't really been playing that much lately. It started soon after Modern Warfare 2...where I just got tired of playing with my friends every night and doing the same thing day in and day out. I soon just stopped playing all together, while they were still on until the wee hours of the morning playing search and destroy.

It was funny because when COD4 came out I lived that game. Almost every night I was on, and the memories are good. But I can't see myself even caring that much anymore.

It's rather funny how much changes in the matter of a few years. I go from collecting every new statue or bust I want and gaming all the time. To even thinking about selling like 80% of my collectibles and games now.

Maybe you are ready to move on to other things then. Hell, I remember when I used to collect pokemon cards. :monkey2:lol

I'm on a break from gaming myself and I know what you mean about looking at the shelf of games and trying to find something you feel like playing enough to actually want to open the box and put the game in....I have about 5 games I own that I need to play, I kept getting them thinking it was one specific game but it's not, I played fast a furious for a good while so I think I'm burnt out but I know it will pass for me and sounds like you've been gaming your entire life like I have so I'm sure it will pass for you.

All I can muster up to play right now is NCAA 2010 because I can play one game and then turn the system off. That's about all I can get into at the moment.

It'll pass...just down force it.

Maybe you just need some friends

No, Seriously, online play is OK, but nothing beats having friends over and playing some games.

Also remember, right now we are in a dry period for games during the year, end of August will see lots of games starting to come out. And of course when new consoles eventually come out it'll boost interest.

Games can piss me off from time to time but I prefer playing games online with friends than back when we used to play board games because I would always lose and throw a fit. :lol
Operation. :mad::rotfl

Sometimes, too much of something can become "too much" for you to handle. Just take a break from video games for now. It'll do you good.
