Loosing interest in games?

You gotta find the right games. There's so many great games out there that I can't keep up. I loved Red Dead, Heavy Rain, COD, Dragon Age, etc. I thought it was a great year. I also have alot of games I just dont have time to play and never opened, like Demon Souls, Dead Space and Bioshock. The biggest let down this year was the new FF for me.

I was a pretty serious gamer for years, then slowly I lost all interest. I know there are still a lot of great games out there, but I have no desire to play anything. Not having as much free time as I used to is part of it. Maybe I'll feel different in the future.

I find it interesting, and dissappointing, that many of the responses here pull out the tired and true "you're growing up" responce. This is a forum dedicated to collecting action figures for goodness sakes!

People can have any hobby at any age they want. The great part about gaming is that if you look hard enough there's something for everyone whether it's solitare, or Call of Duty.

The best advice is from those above saying to take a break. Only play games that really call to you; those of us who've played for a long time get to the point where it takes something really special to move us. But whatever you do, don't let people tell you you need to grow out of gaming.

i agree... citing maturity as the cause of disinterest in gaming is naive. perhaps the responsibilities and burdens maturity often includes may decrease one's motivation and enthusiasm for anything... music, sports, film... but to say one shows maturity by "growing out of gaming" is ridiculous.

I don't claim it's what is going on in my situation, but I can't help feel that it cannot be ruled out. As I feel I am maturing by the day, maturity I feel is knowing when you can do recreational things and when you just don't have time for it anymore. Not that all games all for children, but I feel eventually most of us will come to a point in our lives whether it be a few years or when he hit 55, that we won't be gaming anymore.

Well my PS3 bust about 3 months ago now and i'm not missing it anywhere near as much as I thought I would.

I love gaming though, probabaly always will. Having less time to play stuff probabaly makes you think you are going off them or growing out of them but i'd imagine if you had nothing to do all the time you'd be on them just as much.

I think once I get my PS3 fixed i'll be wondering why I hadn't done it sooner.

The right game can be the best peice of entertainment going.

just don't confuse maturity with lack of interest or change of focus… especially within a toy forum.

I hear you to a degree, we are all kind of big kids or at least kids at heart to some degree. But my interest in that too is shrinking. But collectibles aren't toys. :)

As for you are growing up, I don't agree. You don't really feel any different inside when you reach late 30's compared to how you were in your early twenties.

(please don't state above as fact)
Uh, no. Maybe in your experience. Hell, 20-25 was a huge difference to me. 25-34 was insane. But were all different. Were here to learn, grow etc. If you aint maturing in some way on this earth YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG! :) (but hey we all know someone that never grows up)

No one is telling him to grow out of gaming, they're saying his preferences and interests may be changing.

:exactly:

my interest and hobbies change all the time. sometimes i am really into music and concerts. sometimes its going to baseball games. sometimes its movies. sometimes its toys. sometimes its video games. unfortunately for finances i've never really had a time where I'm 100% focused on business. and unfortunately for the state of my home there is never a time i'm focused on the diy improvements. lol.

i used to love playing games, but the last few years, my 360 has been picking up dust for the most part. The last game I played was RE5 when it came out, and I prolly wont play anything again until GOW3 comes.

Judging by your immature response to my comment, you still have a lot of growing up to do

I have also experienced this lately .. i still have barely played red dead and war of cybertron ..however any jrpg i will play right trough ..but they don't come along as often as the fps and general action games ..i like the god of war games but they always felt like a chore just to get trough them (as do most games for me in recently) ..never really felt like "i don't want this game to end" ..the only game recently that gave me that feeling was uncharted 2 ..man that game was amazing.

Anyway ..just got FF7,8 and 9 from psn and put them on my psp ..now those are games i will play over and over again ..there kinda like books to me ..you know when you read a book and lets say a year later you read it again because you forget some of it(unlike films which take longer to forget imo) ..well thats how those big story driven games such as final fantasy, tales games and so on have an effect on me.
I just love them:).

Also loving mod nation racing at the moment ..thats a game i can play in little burst now and again ..so thats different.

I lost interest a long time ago... I havent even bought PS3 or Xbox360... I gave up gaming when I started buying Hottoys that money had to come form some where... But as of late Im looking to get back into gaming... Not to say I havent played games other places... I played through Metal Gear Solid 4 with a friend after that I saw no need to buy PS3 its the only game I wanted to play to finish the story... I was never into Halo so I saw no reason to buy Xbox360 but then I got to playing some Gears and I might buy Xbox360 just for those three games...

How is that immature? Don't state your comment as fact, simple as that. It was nothing personal (I think you read more into what i posted than was intended) and i find it funny you took it as so. ( I guess it just gives more validity to my post is all)

I doubt I could ever lose interest in games. I have so many I have yet to finish and even more I have yet to play.

I own 569 games and I haven't either finished or even played more than half. So I've always got something to play.

I go through periods where I don't feel like playing a game for days on end but it's usually because something else has my attention.
