Oh, that's right, there was the earlier version. Didn't see that one, though.
I think the book is a tough one to film. Like American Psycho, in a way, you have to interpret it to be able to put it on the screen.
I suppose the '63 version did it better than the more recent one?

Lol wasnt there an american psycho sequel with a girl killer????

I really don't get all this misogynistic hate.
The Lord of the Flies is a book that explores human nature through a group of isolated boys in a dire situation, devoid of the social and cultural boundaries that keep us and our baser instincts in check. What exactly is wrong about looking at those same problems through a modern lens, and seeing it from a female perspective? Is it any less valid? Is it any less intriguing or any less provocative?
Why do you feel the need to try to belittle it with comments about women getting their periods in sync, or making jokes about make-up? Is that how you really view women?
From all the comments I've read, I think there's been two that actually make fair points about why this could fail. Otherwise it just seems to be a bunch of grown men trying to sound tough belittling women.

Par for the course in the movie forum. :lol

And I would hope more people than you think know about this classic. It was also a very well-known movie from 1963 before its terrible remake much later.

The B&W one from the 60s is a pretty good adaptation and well worth a watch for anyone interested.

The book's a short read too and quite quite good.

I certainly wouldn't mind an all girl take on the story as female dynamics are much different than male but I'm a tad tired of remakes and reboots at this point and wish Hollywood would start looking to more new content.

Wait a minute, wait a minute... Didn't you all know that the "girls" in this remake are transgenders?

... ... ...

All of your minds BLOWN :mwaha:rotfl

All these man-children know at least one woman, so their views are valid.

Back when Lohan was boinkable.

Now she has a freckle for every guy she's ****ed to get them to support her for awhile because no one wants to hire her to act anymore. She's the girl at the bar you meet in your 20's that you think is hot because you've had too much to drink. You take her home and the sex is full of uninhibited nastiness that you'll tell your friends about for years afterward. When you sober up the next day, you realize that you stuck your **** in a whole lotta crazy. Because you can't control your drinking or your ****, you have to pay the consequences for starting a relationship you didn't know was happening. She reminds me of the kind of girl that will cut up all your clothes because she saw you talking to another woman even though that woman is just ringing up your groceries.
