So can someone give good review of this game? How does it compare to something like Everquest? I haven't played any MMORPG's since the original Everquest, but this one has me pretgty intrigued. WOW is too cartoonish for me and for some reason I just couldn't get into Star Wars Galaxies (maybe I should try again). I think it's that desire to play a fantasy genre RPG. Anyway just curious what people thought of the game. Obviously you must all be enjoying it.

haven't played everquest but i can tell already it's put together better than SWG.(whether i stick with it or not only time will tell but for now it's fun)Smokin pipe weed and drinkin ale=fun times

I fiddled around with Star Wars Galaxies for a while but found it lacked direction and didn't really feel like I was in the Star Wars universe. They made some changes in professions, etc. to try to make it feel more accurate to the flavor of the films, but I still didn't find it to be very immersive. I played World of Warcraft for a few days with a free trial and ultimately found it too "cartoony" in its look and feel. I have really enjoyed LOTR online so far and I think it is the perfect blend of game design and playability and setting. If you are any kind of Tolkien fan then I would say it's at least worth a look.

I definitely dig Tolkein's world and the LOTR realm has always been what I consider to be the final word when it comes to fantasy settings. I've played my share of D&D and other RPG's (the ones with only dice and paper) and I would say that Everquest, setting wise, is as close to classic D&D as one could get, but the thing I always hated about D&D was their treatment of elves. Tolkein got elves right and it's his vision that I enjoy the most.

So away from that tangeant, I dig LOTR, I dig fantasy and I'm kind of jonsing for some good online MMORP'ing. I'll have to check into this one a bit more and see if it's something I want to get into.

Thanks for the comments guys!

By the way if anyone wants to post some screencaps of their PC or anything that would be groovy.

I have a question for you guys. I have the game now currently installed on my slower hard-drive. I have a 10,000 rpm one that I have been to lazy to install, but when I do, will my saved character be gone, or is the character saved on their servers?

DL it and get the key.(everyone can play)

amazon gives you the key right away(under digital purchases in my account) for the preorder
