Someone on another board mentioned that the Tailies found a glass eye in their hatch and that probably belonged to the Nicky Fury guy in the other hatch.

Moral of the story, don't drink in drive in Hawaii or you'll get fired! :lol

Batty, you mentioned the smoke being a hanso experiment gone bad...have you read Michael Crichton's Prey? It makes me think so much of a nanoswarm.

Eh, the creators of the show confirmed it is NOT nanotechs. My guess it's the only TRUE unnatural thing on the island. Whateva.

Is it just me, or did anybody think the guy with the eyepatch looked like Ron Perlman?

No, but it could be him since he does a lot of TV show voices so being on a TV show for a few episodes wouldn't be a stretch.

First thing I thought of was that glass eye from the tail section hatch.

Very frustrated to see them kill Eko. What was the point? Why not have him die in the hatch? Or in the polar bear cave? What a waste of a good character, and what a pointless death. Why did the smoke kill him this time and not during his first encounter?

But at least we have a bit of an explanation for why Jack saw his dad, Shannon saw Walt, Kate saw a horse, Hurley saw a talking bird, etc.

With only one more show left between now and February, I am feeling much more frustrated than addicted.

Man, I'm not frustrated at all. I love this ****. Not totally knowing everything and trying to figure it all out. This is what keeps me coming back.

The smoke monster also explains the comment from the production team that we saw the monster quite a few times but never really knew that it was the monster. The big thing Im wondering though.... what the HELL is with the four toed statue?

Wow, I'm completely drawing a blank on this one.... When did Hurley see a talking bird?

Ah well it was a good theory while it lasted. Thanks for the info, I hadn't heard it before (obviosuly :lol).

This is one of those times that the not knowing is what's making the show work. As we try and guess why, how or what the (?) from the first season and on, our imagination is hard at work. I got a feeling that the final reveal wont be as good as the ride they've taken us on to get to the conclusion. It's already started as the monster was much scarier before it was revealed to be a smog monster with an attitude.

I think you've nailed it. When I first started watching I got frustrated that I wasn't getting the answers I wanted. Then I figured out that the point of the show isn't to give us answers, but questions. The point is to create that feeling that the world and the people in it are at their core unknowable and as malable as putty -- yet do it in a satisfying and addictive way.

I agree 100% I have been quite frustrated this season. The characters seem a little off to me in the first place but to bring in two new characters like they did and to kill off EKO........grrrr. I really liked EKO and if he had to die I wish it would have been for a cause....not to have him survive the hatch and bear and then kill hime with a smoke fight. I wish the creators would take it easy on bringing in fresh blood and keep the characters that they have. Overall, I have not been thrilled with the first five episodes.

I almost wish that the first six episodes would have just been focused on Jack, Kate and Sawyer. All the stuff with them and the Others has been good, but every time it cuts back to the rest of the group I get frustrated or lose interest. Ana-Lucia and Libby's deaths served a purpose and figured into the plot--this one just seemed to come out of nowhere and accomplish nothing. Seriously, why did they bother to bring the actor back in season two if this was all they were going to do with him?

And I felt that Eko was not quite the same character in this episode as he was last season. We have seen previously how he felt guilty about the lives he has taken, and even took a little vow of silence after killing the Others that attacked the Tail Section camp. He really wrestled with the guilt of those killings and was kind of getting a second chance in life. Now in this episode, he doesn't seem to care at all about having killed people. It felt like somebody else was writing the character that week.

I actually feel the exact opposite. I'd rather watch the castways than Lack, Sawyer, and Kate. They bore me. Ben and the Others are facinating though. I really can't stand Jack anymore. I hope he is either killed off or gets off the island after Ben's surgery.

As for Eko, I think he figured out that the smoke monster wasn't his brother and didn't feel like he needed to repent to it, although he did seem a bit surprised it wasn't his brother too. He was a bit dillerious in that episode though

After watching a couple of episodes of Galatica and one of Smallville, I played this last episode of Lost and found myself going to the fastforward even when it wasn't the commercial. I'm not saying Smallville is on the same level as BG, but this season it's far more interesting than Lost has been.

Like Juliet a lot though - I'm sure they'll kill her off soon. I loved Libby and then killed her too.

I wouldn't be surprised if the eye-patch guy is Ron Perlman - they never established what happened to him.

Anyone else notice it seems like the tail sectioners are nothing but island fodder?

The thing I disliked most about Eko in this episode though is that he was going to sell the medicine to get away. I would have preferred that after his brother's death that he became something of a protector of the village. If he had killed the men for that reason, and that first guy to save his brother, I think his statement of, "I have not sinned" would have made sense if he came to the conclusion those killings were justified.

Who is Ron Perlman? Was he the guy Desmond "killed"?

Jack Boring? :lol Man, he's my fave!! You'd be stressed out if everyone was coming to you with their problems every 5 seconds. If they where going to kill anyone off next I wish it would be Lock. Talk about annoying. Another thing I'd like to see is Jack and his side just kick the living **** out of The Others. Those jerk offs are really getting on my nerves.

IMO all 3 seasons have been very gripping for me anyways. I can't imagine BSG or SV being as gripping but that may be due to the fact those shows have zero interest to me. I hope they keep things going on Lost the way they are. I love the little bit of answers we get with more questions added. I think some people are just starting to lose patience. The journey is the fun part so I'm gonna enjoy the ride.

Ron Perlman is the actor from Hellboy and that old Beauty and Beast tv show. I thought the guy Desmond killed was the actor who played the Kurgen in the Highlander.
