I actually didn't want to know where Jacob and Smokey came from, because I didn't want to hear "aliens" or "angel/demon."

But when MiB claimed that he used to be a man and had a human mother... then I got interested.

And the fact that we pretty much guessed all that a while ago.

True. But there were theories out there that I preferred to what they gave us.

you are correct that you aren't going to like the finale.

I may still like the finale but it probably won't answer everything I want answered. I guess I am not a true believer yet. I will admit I went into this season with negative feelings because Season 4 and 5 had good moments but just dragged on. I feel that this should could go from "good" to "great" if they would have cut it down to 4 seasons.

I loved seasons 4 and 5. Don't know why you would say they dragged on.

2 and 3 where the ones that dragged.

They all pretty much dragged on, except for Season 1. That is why I said the show could be 4 seasons cause there is a lot of stuff they could have cut from every season.

They could've done it in 1 season had they focused only on the MiB/Jacob conflict, but that isn't the focus or point of the story nor should it be.

I didn't say that. I was giving the benefit of 4 seasons, 1 season would be a little rushed I would think. :) But 6 seasons seems a little much too, especially when they creators said they stretched out in some parts because they didn't know what to do.

I thought it was because they didn't know how long the show would be... i.e how many seasons they would be expected to come up with... hence the dragging in seasons 2 and 3.

Once they new the end date, the show really picked up imo.

Yea that is true but if they planned this fully a head of time they could have said how long the show can go for and set a specific time line. More shows are starting to do this, which is good.

I thought the last night's episode was great. It was the damn commercial breaks that I found frustrating. :banghead

Seriously, I think LOST was about 15 minutes long last night with 45 minutes of commercials.

Yes. They didn't know how long of a story to tell, how to pace it, when to hit certain points, etc. because they were not in control of that element, ABC and the money people were. Very difficult to tell a big, mythic, mystery story in tv not knowing when it might end. First they aren't sure if the show will be popular enough for a full season, or if it will be picked up for a second season, then the opposite problem and the show becomes so popular the network wants it to run as long as possible with no end in sight. So the writers tried padding and alternate views of things like Nikki and Paulo. I actually feel this season has been rushed trying to address bits and include all the beats they had envisioned and it could've been 2 seasons of the island "War" if not the sideways stuff.

With the benefit of hindsight, or had they confirmed from the start it would only be 108 episodes (their original plan) or six seasons, I'm sure they would have paced a few things differently, not introduced some side story elements, etc. But such is the challenge of serialized writing and that's what they were referencing in the "we told the best version of Lost we could" statements.

Beyond frustrating! :banghead

So Smokey was Christian (the general consensus already knew that), but where the hell is Christian's body? Locke's body was still there after Smokey took his form. Are we to assume Christian's body just flew out of the casket as it fell to the island and is basically lost?

Also Smokey said he has appeared as many other people....I think we can all agree that if someone dies, smokey can appear as them. Also, if smokey scans someone's memories can he also appear as them? Or must they have died?

So then, who has appeared as ghost Walt on the island? Walt isn't dead and I don't think Smokey ever 'scanned' Walt (if that even works). Walt's apparition is still unexplained.

I assume Smokey ditched Christian's body, but who knows. Likely falls under the "was Kate's horse MiB?" never will be answered category.

I had forgotten about that :lol:lol, perhaps a horse had died on the island......what if smokie was really the polar bear Sawyer shot and just played dead??? OH, the implications !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What I want to know is: how did Christian Shepard appear off island on the freighter to Michael?

I thought smoky couldn't move over water...

What about Walt. He never died. Who was he?
