LOTR 12"... Is SAURON Possible?

I orderd and cancelled Poly-Sauron. I'd love a 1/6th. $125 sounds about right to me. He should come with his cape, mace, and severd finger w/removable ring. Exclusive should be the sword he's been photographed with, but we never saw in the film.

Since a true 1/6 scale Sauron would be between 20 to 24 inches tall, the cost of a new body just for this size may be prohibitively expensive. What about a Sauron at 14 inches? This would make hime bigger, but not size hime out of a pricepoint that would be sell-able?

I say bring him on!!

I would love to see this character in poseable 1/6 form whether it's scaled down somewhat or on a completely new giant body. I've been thinking of how it could be done in scale, but other then a whole new giant body I can't see how. One way of making it cheaper would be to release him as a kit you have to assemble. It should cut down on production cost slightly, and would be fun to put together.

I have the poly-Sauron, and still would welcome a 12" Sauron, althou it would have to be 18" or so...

I'd grab one for sure.

i prefer the 18". I don't want a 24" plastic action figure, I think that will look ridiculous. Will probably pass on something that huge. There are some giant edward sissorhands made be some other company, I think that was 24". Anybody know? The sculpt was actually pretty nice on that piece. Anyway, don't want giant plastic.

I like the Polystone one and I dont want to see one for the 12 inch line. It would be great if they make the figures WETA missed, or atleast different outfits or armour.

I want a 12" flaming sauron eye. That would be freakign awesome. I could hang him in the doorway and tell me they are being watch by the freaking eye.

But I would love to get a Sauron in the LOTR 1/6 line. I think that the TB versions was one of the best figures in the series, and even though I don't think he's the correct scale he still looks great with the other figures. Anyone else have any thoughts about this, or is there any news?

I agree the TB version was pretty cool. I want SS to do this but it will be up to if they feel they can pull it off the way the fans and themselves would want it.

Hmm - sideshow have done one off bodies before - I believe the Jaws figure was only used for that one figure - its certainly not the same base body as Hellboy or The Kurgan (its bigger than both). I'd be happy to have it somewhat smaller than true scale. From memory whilst he's supposed to be huge alot of this was done with camera perspective in the film rather than actually making him huge - so it could be put down to aura

The only thing I don't like about NECA is that they generally do a shoddy job on articulation. I would be thrilled with a giant Sauron figure, but I could sacrifice some of the size for articulation and cloth. I think it would be a large undertaking for Sideshow, but the Sauron Statue seems to have sold well, I would think that a 1/6 figure, for less would too.

Also, people are already dropping a lot of coin to pick up the ED-209 (I know it's a Hot Toys) so there is a market out there

Although the SSW Sauron is one of my favorites, I could live without a 12". That is unless of course they do an Isildur. Then it's a must.

i've decided to collect only the fellowship 12" (provided the hobbits gets made eventually) else it would just be too much money for me to spend on to collect all of them.

and if a 12" sauron is made... it will so tempt me to get and then form a last alliance scene. which is bad news for my wallet. so i think i hope he doesnt get made. toybiz will do for now...

Nothing is going to compete with the SSW Sauron but I do think it may be cool. Just not sure how they'd pull it off.
