After how the Balrog has been going, I don't know if they would be my first choice. :monkey4

If he's the same size, he'd be pretty much in scale with the 12"! And NECA's detail is amazing! I'd do the "balrog Wait" all over again for a NECA Sauron.

Okay, so now that Sideshow has done the unthinkable and announced a 1/6 Jabba the Hutt... anyone think its more likely we'll see Sauron one day in the same format? I'm sure he would be expensive, but maybe not as much as the $350 I just pre-ordered for Jabba's whole set up :monkey4

I'd love to have a 1/6 styled Sauron. I think the LOTR line would be incomplete without it. I also want a scaled Treebeard as well....if I'm willing to drop $400 on the Jabba entourage then I'll definitely be up for the LOTR big ticket stuff as long as they offer FLEXPAY and as long as they space it out.

I agree Galactiboy. I think Jabba is a good sign for eventually getting a Sauron. Who knows - I'm sure there would be other figures that the body type could eventually be used for - at the moment I'm at a loss. That being said - how hard can it be to just upscale an existing body ? Its not like the proportions would be different as such (as they are with hobbits & dwarves). I imagine most of the cost would be the setup of new molds.

A 1/6th scaled Treebeard would not be out of the question. He would be about 2 feet tall. Big, certainly, but not undoable. But before we get these, I still want my Fellowship Nine first.

I am all for a Treebeard. I would definitely be good for one. I also think after the Fellowship of Nine, they need to do Faramir, and Eomer first.

After the surprise of jabba for the Star Wars line, I wouldn't be surprised in the least to see a 1/6 scale Sauron, Treebeard, and Cave Troll. Jabba is a vinyl piece, with limited articulation, but I don't see why these figures couln'd be achieved this way, and it would keep them from having to fit the "standard sideshow body"

While I currently am a completist in this line, I don't think I could order a 1/6 Shelob. I hate small spiders, let a long giant ones!

After seeing the movie "Magic" with Anthony Hopkins, I had an embargo on toys that would be big enough to reach and open doors or hold knives on the off chance that they magically come to life. That embargo might stand for a 1/6 scale Shelob, though the SSW was really cool looking!

A 1/6 Sauron would be great, but a 1/6 Jabba would be even better! Just imagine how cool he would look beside Gandalf!

Jabba hanging out with Gandalf?!? I am guessing that you meant Balrog, but now I like the idea of Gandalf sharing a toke off of Jabba's hookah!

I want a 1/6 Melkor...for those of you who haven't read The Silmarillion, he's pretty much what Sauron is times 10000000. BRING ON THE EU LoTR FIGURES !!!!!

Thanks a lot. Silmarillion is next on my list.

Just kidding, though I do plan on reading it later this year.

The Silmarillion would be excellent done like Jim Henson's The Storyteller, with a different lore master introducing each story. Gandalf could introduce the tale of the elves warring with one another, Saruman could introduce the Black Elf, Elrond could introduce the story of how all came to be....

As soon as I'm done the Clone Wars comics I'm going to pick this up.

The opening chapters alone are worth admission. So far my favorite "genesis" story is Tolkein's. It's all about music.

Of all the books I've read (which number almost 1000 now), The Silmarillion is one of my five favorite books. It is one of the most compelling, relevant, and masterfully written books of the 20th century. Usually I hate fantasy books--all the dragons and drama and bizarre codes and oaths generally bore me. Tolkein, however, never fails to rise above that because, frankly, his fantasies are never about fantasy. They are about right and wrong, morality, virtue, and courage. The Silmarillion is one of the most beautifully composed works of literature I have had the privilige of enjoying. I recommend it to anybody who is looking for a piece of real literature.
