Packaging looks great, but no one is talking about the Aragorn inside it. I hope to high heavens that's not the final production piece because it looks like they gave him a fully painted brown beard instead of stuble, and it looks like he's suffering from the Luke Skywalker monkey arm syndrome.

Dragon has been using packaging like this for a long time. It's good for displaying a figure with a lot of accessories, although I don't know that the LotR figures have THAT much stuff. I do wish that it was more like the SW boxes - those are much easier to store.

I think the packaging looks beautiful. The double-front flaps provides a unique touch to the line. But to be honest, I'd take a plain white box if it meant that the figures would cost $10+ less... :monkey3

It's hard to tell. It might look darker because of the clear plastic tray curving down at that point. They have also started using an extra plastic "collar" around the necks of the last few SW 12" figures. That might be what is making it look darker, as I can't see Sideshow giving him a full beard.

Han and Mace had collars? That sucks....

I like the box a lot.... the graphics look wonderful, very nice. Space issue is always there, but I don't really mind. I keep wondering how things will be in 10 years.... will I have to rent a storage unit to house my SSC boxes? :lol

Cause I HATE to throw them away....

The collar is a hell of a lot better than the twisties! :lol

The packaging looks wonderful. Vivid, and just plain beautiful. It'll end up in my recycling bin, but it'll ba lot of fun opening Aragorn up!

Fo all I care, they could ship these in plain brown cardboard boxes (and lower the price $ 10...).

I collect statues / figures, not boxes.

Just about anything is better than twisties.

I personally would like to see more protection between box and outer box when shipped. That thin layer of bubble does nothing against any kind of minor droppage. All it does is keep the box for rubbing against the cardboard.

Yep! my SDCC Anakin arrived with a dented corner. I didn't contact SSC for a replacement box, but I should have. I guess that for every request for a replacement box, there are at least 2 collectors that leave it at that. There's just to much chance for damage if these pieces are shipped alone. I wish there was a satisfying solution for this.

Thankfully, my packages only have to travel about three hours to here from Sideshow. They aren't given many chances to get crushed and dinged along the way, and usually arrive in good condition.

Only about 15 to 20 minutes for my things to get to me from Sideshow. Even less of a chance for dings and such. Booya!

He's on the standard body, plus you can't see his feet in the box.

I'm more worried about the paint apps. That beard is looking mighty dark...

I mean, I know I'll probably repaint him, but that's not standard practice for everybody, and I'd love for the first LOTR figure to be a slam dunk out of the box.
