George Lucas Joins Billionaire 'Giving Pledge'
"Star Wars" creator George Lucas has become the latest billionaire to join Warren Buffett's "Giving Pledge" by vowing to give half of his fortune to charity.
The 66-year-old filmmaker and philanthropist said he joined the pledge to help education. "I am dedicating the majority of my wealth to improving education. It is the key to the survival of the human race," he said in a statement. "A good storyteller is ultimately a teacher -- using the arts as a means of making education emotionally meaningful."

Warren Buffett and Bill Gates have convinced 38 other American billionaires to donate half of their fortunes to philanthropic causes. They include New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, oil tycoon T. Boone Pickens, media mogul Ted Turner, hotel mogul Barron Hilton, and eBay founder Pierre Omidyar.
"If you want to do something for your children and show how much you love them, the single best thing — by far — is to support organizations that will create a better world for them and their children. And by giving, we inspire others to give of themselves, whether their money or their time," Bloomberg said.
