Well said Monk.
I agree that the essence of the character should be the primary goal.

For that same reason, I really like most of the Hasbro Unleashed 7 inch line. Granted the quality standards are lower for the lower pricepoint but they do pretty well at emphasizing the characters in a dynamic fashion. All of the PF's have been able to do the same thing in a much more subdued, iconic manner.

Just so long as Yoda's arms can be positioned so he doesn't look like a monkey, I believe I'll be happy. I still need to get a good opportunity to get mine out of the box.

"Subdued" is a key word, Theropod. That's one of the things I've always appreciated about the Premium Format pieces. And it's a quality that the Luke and Yoda PF possesses in spades. :D

And, while I recognize that Yoda looks different in those particular frame grabs, I know for a fact that I've seen him at some point in the film with that exact expression on his face. That expression itself is representative of the character for me, as Luke's posture is representative of that moment in the film.
I don't think the expression on Yoda is representative of his character at this point in his life. Even though Anakin's back story hadn't been done, the plot line of the fallen Jedi and Vader being Luke's father was known so to capture the essence of Yoda, a smile isn't the way to go, there was too much to be on his mind that wouldn't lend itself to smiling, seeing Anakin/Vader's child exhibiting similar signs of impatience and eagerness, knowing of the evils Vader had committed since his fall, there was never any reason for Yoda to be anything but focused and mindful of Luke's every action to keep him in line to stay on the light side of the force, so I would say the film best depicts the emotional essence of Luke and Yoda's training on Dagobah, not the SSC PF. As I've said, the PF is a beautifully crafted piece, I don't want to take that away from it, just the emotion of the characters depicted seems to have missed on what was going on at the time.

I agree 100%. If you want a frame grab, buy a poster. These are representations and open to some degree of artistic license and interpretation.

Always remember that Luke is "A New Hope" so The serene moment captured in the PF is meaning that Yoda finally does what he can do best and he finally again has a meaning in life....I mean training the boy who can bring back Vader to the light side... I agree with Monk about that.

A good point, but don't forget, Yoda watched Luke take off in his X-Wing without a sense of hope, so in ESB, Yoda was unsure if Luke could avoid his path and be that hope, but knowing there was another child of Skywalker, he told Obi-Wan there was another, almost saying that I'm not sure this boy can follow the path we need him to, but there is still hope in the other child of Skywalker. I never really got a sense from Yoda in the OT that he was happy in any way until the end of Jedi when he finally saw the Sith destroyed and that Luke had found the path his father had swayed from.

In the other photos shown Yoda just looked like a puppet. It's hard to compare. These make him look more lifelike, and in them, you can see the resemblence in the statue.

One thing I really do wish. That they had used a bit of real hair on Yoda. For the price, it seems reasonable. I might try it with mine, but that sculpted hair might make the few strands of the real stuff look like crap.

true the hair, like on the Jason PF, would have been awesome.

Grievous PF so far has been the only one to actually impress me followed by obiwan then vader.

Thanks so mutch for the pictures ! Great ones. The best i've seen yet.

This Dagobah Luke & Yoda looks awesome.
An iconic scene of the EMPIRE STRICK BACK.

I agree : Marc Hamill face looks great.

As always you must have the figure in hands to have a real opinion of the qualities of this PF.

Yoda looks great to and the exclusive VADER head is terrific.

I can't wait this Luke & Yoda Exclusive.
It will coming soon.
Waiting for my tracking number.

Great photos. I just wish the Sideshow Yoda looked like the Yoda we saw in the movie....my biggest issues are his neck and the color.

The neck is definitely a bit of an issue. :(

I wish I had the 'nads to give it the squish as a couple of others have. But the whole idea makes me cringe.

One sold for $202.00 on ebay exclusive version. Thats the problem with these PF's. Hopefully I can get this for under $200.00 like the 1st Luke.

I do not buy direct from SS anymore because how cheap they go on the secondary market. Same will go with Fett.

Even at $200.00 if I get both Fett and Luke at this price I save around $300.00. Thats like getting a 3rd PF free. I don't see the value of these going up, so its best to get the cheapest price you can, unless you like to throw money away.
