Would be nice to think that delaying figures such as Hoth Han and Luke is to make sure their head sculpts are as good as possible.

Yeah, I really hope both Lukes and Han are great.

The big question is do SSC feel they need to compete with HT? If they do, they will understand those Han and Luke sculpts will be critical to their longer term survival in SW 1/6. If they don't, maybe they feel they can cruise on sculpts/apps that are a few notches below HT because they have their own 1/6 SW turf that HT won't touch.

But SSC is already competing directly with HT in one way - the overall battle for dollars. There's a ton of quality stuff coming and only so many $$$.

What is with you Hollywood? Why do all your posts smell like troll excrement? Post fail again.
:rotfl :lol

The figure looks pretty damn good actually. I do agree with an earlier post about the eyes being the wrong colour & the hair needing to be lighter - but other than that.. very nice so far.

The eyes seem to have the same problem as DX07, actually. They're indeed blue, but the dark-light contrast in the iris is making them look too dark at this scale.

Come on, there's only one person I'd expect to see only the hair.

Wow! Badass, I'm guessing he'll have 2 heads on with a helmet and one w/o.

I really see nothing to complain about from this image other than the eye color looks off... but the sculpt is incredible, and to my eye is the best Luke we've seen far better than the main ESB head from HT. Sure the final paint may suffer, but for now this has a lot of promise.

I didn't mean the hair is solely responsible - of course the likeness is out.

So far, the base body's too broad shouldered, the tailoring's a little lacking, the hands are too big (an ongoing thing with them), the boots are too baggy, etc etc.

You're the one that owns Hank Vader. :huh

Hank Solo.

I meant the promise of a bullseye. The way it used to work was - "this is SSC's Luke, and it's the only Luke you'll get until SSC decides to have another shot at Luke." Now things have changed - whether HT does bullseye it or not, there is the promise of it in a buyer's mind.

Everything from SSC has indicated it is only one head with a clamshell helmet. Which is such a bummer - two heads are better than one.:lol

That's a business expense for research and development purposes. And I like a challenge. ;)

I wonder how that will work... I guess if they don't have the inside of the helmet be fully detailed that could work. But just trying to get a Tomy helmet to fit on a head was a nightmare of removing more and more of the head until I overdid it and decided my pilots would be holding the helmet instead :lol

The clamshell thing was info from SDCC during production - the figure at the show was not final. The images we've seen since then may indicate plans have changed. Anything's possible.

Just looking at the image... I could see his hair being a separate piece, so maybe that's how a clamshell could work. Although personally I'd rather have a loose helmet, head w/o and head with just to cover all to the options and have each one look as good as possible.

Early on Sideshow indicated that was how they would handle figures with helmets or masks, just include two heads rather compromise with an undersized head, or oversized helmet. The Leia Boushh was a nice example of this.. although a bit ironic as their heads were ginormous at the time, but still it followed the idea and we even saw it with the most recent Vader.

This would then require an empty helmet too so luke can hold it, right? Maybe the clamshell helmet goes on a separate bald head making it easier to take on and off.

Edit: I see you indicated this in the first part of your post, maybe to keep costs down they're going the clamshell route, but given this figure will be so minimal in terms of accessories anyhow they should just go for the three separate pieces like you said -- loose helmet, head sculpt shown, and head sculpt with helmet.
