Sideshow is testing the waters. They offer this, arguably attractive, figure for $240 and see if they can get away with it. It is their perfect right of course. How else would they know how high is too high? It is us who tell them what the right price is. If enough still preorder now, however disgruntled, the new price point has been set and they will continue to test how high they can get. There is no way of stopping them, except to vote with the wallet. The responses in this thread at least give hope that now is that time.

Even though Sideshow before would have figures at a lower price point then Hot Toys, They sure made more money off of me then Hot Toys. Becasue with Sideshow previous prices I could afford the collection, not just one figure. I would buy their Admiral Piets,Hammerheads, cantina band, etc etc. With Hot Toys I only picked and chose from each line, since realistically I couldn't buy them all.

Yeah, even if the higher prices are totally and completely justified on their end, with so many companies figures costing north of $240 now I'm suddenly finding myself being a LOT more selective in the ones I buy.

It's a really fun hobby collecting these, but even if I could afford to get every single one (which I almost could), there's still a point where cost exceeds the value of the thing.

I had been thinking after I get my tauntaun and Hoth Luke I might cool it for a while collecting wise. I'm pushing 40 and there are fastly approaching other priorities in my life beyond collectables. These higher price-points might be the kick in the ass I've needed.

If they knew this would get to this point why wouldn't they balance out the costs with R2 and maybe even the scout. $175 for R2, $200 for the scout, then you can basically stay at $200 with this Luke. Maybe go to $210, but people would still gripe because it offers so much less in terms of extras than the Hoth figures.

I think I'll wait and see if/when Hot Toys does a ANH Luke & Leia. While I really like this figure and I did expect it to be higher than $240, I also expected to get a little more accessories with it.

I have to say that I do find all the whining and bitching on FB hilarious. :lol

This thread is getting a lot of play on the sticker shock.

I wonder what will happen. SS won't suddenly reduce the price. I can only see fewer of these getting made as a response.

Which in the end makes this look like a success.

Bingo, they are out of their ****in mind if they think collectors will pay this for a fig like this with limited accessories. Keep trying SSC

I wonder how many preorders they got.

Maybe we should let this thread sink and die. For show. I know its tempting to comment, but it would show more if it just died away the day of the preorder.

I'm done here.

Exactly. Then they'll say that there wasn't any interest in the line so they are putting it "on hold".

I don't have Facebook, but I feel I doing myself a disservice by not being able to read some of the gems being posted. Can't be any worse than YouTube comments can it?

This isn't a must have version of Luke for me especially at this price. If they put him on sale I might get him, but if basic human figures start going over $200, I'm going to start to become very selective.

I haven't seen any of the Youtube comments.

People embarrassing themselves and looking like asshats for the world to see isn't my thing. :lol
