Miller controls all Mad Max merchandising rights and apparently hates toys. I find that odd for someone creative who surrounds themselves with other creative types, we all tend to be hyper-infantilised manchildren who draw inspiration directly from our desktop and cabinet collections of tat.

Point I'm getting at here is by being so vehemently anti-merchandising he may well have shot himself in the foot on sequels as this film is going to make substantially less than something like Pacific Rim, which continues to make bank long after its release purely on merch.

Mad Dredd

Needs 300 to break even. 150 budget + re shoots+ around 75 on marketing, minus what the theaters take. DVD sales will help too, but don't expect the next film to have a 200 million budget :lol

I thought the reshoots were part of the 150.

Regardless, you're right about the next budget.

Get ready for Max vs 5 Cars. :lol

It's hearsay but in the Chronicle Collectibles thread someone stated that they read a post from one of the head honchos at Chronicle who said that after getting the license for Terminator Genysis they approached WB about Fury Road and were advised by the studio that there would be no merchandise allowed for the movie. So blu-rays, art book, prequel comic and theatrical posters. The end. Easy to be a completist at least. :lol

Budget was $150, right? So they may not have made a profit yet. Usually figure double the budget. But actors' participation and excessive advertising can raise that substantially. Doubt either is the case with Fury Road though, so I'm guessing at $300 million they would be a breakeven.

That's no good, I'm watching for the 3rd time next week, this movie needs to be witnessed.

Honestly, I don't know if I want another one, cause there's the chance of failure :lol if anything maybe have Max die in the next one and let the franchise die.

Next movie will be about Furiosa rescuing 5 perfect specimen husbands from a female dictator.

Good. They're right, we don't need toys, certainly not to enhance the movie in any way. tbh I don't think I want a sequel either. I'm pretty satisfied with Fury Road being it's own thing, even separate from the old ones. I don't see them topping it.

I'm fine if this is the last one. You either end on a high note or wait until things start getting crappy or embarrassing. When I want to watch Max I've got four options now. Obviously if George makes another one though I'll be there opening weekend.

Investors don't invest just to break even!

Can you imagine all this work just to break even! :thud:

I'm sure WB has already figured out a way to make this movie profitable without having to resort to happy meals and bed sheets.

What nonsense talk is this of no more movies in this franchise, that's like saying no more Godzilla or Star Wars!

Will all the feminist talk I fear the next one will be about catering to the dumblr crown...

Yeah, my guess is $75-85 for the sequel's budget. Unless the dvd/br sales are like lightening.

If Miller does it, it will likely be a smaller band of bad guys and less driving. He'll say its a more "personal" story for Max. Of course, knowing Miller, he may just say screw it and that's the end of it.

Mad Max 5 : Happy Feet in the City

Max finally makes it to Sydney but climate change causes the city to become an arctic wasteland. He learns to tap dance in order to make a living and stages a theater production of Babe but the show is attacked by the Justice League who need gasoline to power their Watchtower.

It's weird, seems no one here can enjoy a movie or TV show unless they can pay $300 for a doll representing it. :dunno

I don't see what's weird about loving a character so much that you need to have a physical representation to hug and smell its plastic hair... :huh

Cause SOME Asians have nothing better to do than play dollies or have their wildest dreams come to together with a male dolly and a female dolly. Oh gawd the next hentai... Dolly Porno. :rotfl
