stupid ____in umpires :gah:. How is it that an umpire looking right at the foul line cant see the ball hit the chalk and have it fly up in the air, yet the 3rd base coach does? Stupid bastards  And ____ Selig for not having more replay............MLB is run just as bad as Soccer is

It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone.

You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops. Today, October 3, a Sunday of rain and broken branches and leaf-clogged drains and slick streets, it stopped, and summer was gone. -A. Bartlett Giamatti

See you next spring Red Sox.

I was talking with my buddy about that last night. Tampa is just as bad. Both Cincinnati and Tampa are playing excellent baseball right now, and it sucks that the locals can't show some support. I moved 7 hours away or else I'd be there for every home game.

I live in Cincinnati and it's a shame. That being said I only went twice this year and both were at the end of the season. I think it has do with the economy and the fact every game is televised on Fox Sports Ohio. Also you have a generation of young adults who have never seen the Reds win. So it may take them time to warm up to it.

Going to a baseball game, at least in Cleveland, can be expensive, not many can afford season tickets or plans anymore. Plus, Ohio has always been a football state so many save their money for football tickets.

as a Life-long Yankee fan, this is the greatest time of the year. The weather is changing, NFL has started, HALLOWEEN right around the corner and I get to watch the New York Yankees compete in post-season play.

This is gonna be another great post-season, especially because the (most powerful team in the leauge) Yankees are the underdogs...no better place to be :)

aside from my teams not in it this year, I like the look of the playoffs. a nice mix of big, mid and small market teams.

I hear ya, hopefully someone can KO the Phillies.

To be honest, I am happy the Yankees got the Wild Card. I did not want to see Cliff Lee in the first round. That dude scares the ____ outta me.

It's the Rays that should scare the Yanks.

If anything the Sox did them a favor this weekend. Now they can play the team that bends over for them ever October, unless the midges have migrated from Cleveland this year.:lol

I don't think anyone can KO the Phillies IMO. Not with Hallady, Oswalt, and Hamels as your starting 3.

NO fracking way. The Phils take the series. :lecture

Charlie Manuel is the only person who could derail the Phillies at this point.

Even then, that starting 3 should see them to another NL title at the very least and probably the World Series title.

Yep yep! I just hope it's a win over the Yankees. Payback for last year! :rock

the phillies will be tough for sure. i respect their ownership for spending what it takes to retain great players and trade for more. too bad their fans all suck. :lol

Careful or I will vomit on you and the little girl sitting next to you. :rotfl

Isolated incidents asside philly fans get a bad rap for what a bunch of idiots did years ago. I posted this in the NFL thread and it has some merit here in regards to the fans.

Okay here is the deal and cut and dry. I keep it real so here goes it. You are talking about a different class of people and fans. Bottom line. Any city that has a ____ty team and low ticket prices is going to bring in the riff raff at one point or the other.

As an Eagles fan I don't condone that behavior and nor does the organization. The fact is times have changed.

The media unfortunately NEEDS something to report on. So the general public believes it. Just like they believe many things in politics. Because they are too stupid to think for themselves and form an actually legitimate opinion behind their statements.

Back then the Eagles were horrible. So naturally ticket prices were low and allowed the lower class to buy tickets. So what you have is a lower class people entering and arena and allowing them to show what low class is all about. It could happen anywhere. You can see it now in certain cities.

Fast forward to today. Eagles ticket prices are right at the top. If you want decent seats you can easily spend over $300 a ticket. A TICKET! I am a middle class person and consider myself a decent fan. I cant even afford that unless I REALLY want to treat myself. So I am even priced out.

So these old arguments about Philly fans IMO comes down to class. Philly fans are just as classy as the next. You will find incidents in any major NFL stadium. That's a fact. Philly fans get a bad rap because of some dumb ____ that a bunch of poor losers did decades ago.

So enough of it! It's lame and unintelligent to sit there and talk of a fan base based off of a bunch of poor people and their actions over 10 to 15 years ago.
