:lecture Absolutely true. For a number of years he was arguably the best player in the league. Juice or no juice.

He has been unfairly targeted and been made a pariah while other guys are still playing after admitted use. When Alex Rodriguez starts creeping near the Bonds record will people harp nearly as much? I doubt it.

Lol.. I agree with this. If A Rod or Jeter were setting all kinds of records nobody would say anything.

Even though ARod will prolly get the record, I will always remember Bonds as the most feared hitter EVER in my book. Maybe not the best hitter or HR guy ever, but with all of his walks, the most feared. As for the Brewers, it would be nice if the Giants gave up a little pitching to get a big slugger like Fielder, thats the only thing they need is that 1 feared big hitter, they have a lot of good pitchers all around. Ive been begging for them to get some offense, they have been much better than last year, but still feel they need one more guy.

bonds....what a shame. if you haven't seen Ken Burns new doc to supplenent his baseball anthology it encapsulate Bonds really well. even wth out steroids, perhaps the best in my generation. what a dMN SHAME.
oh well. done and gone. will ever remember players like griff and ichiro who have not been connected with the fn juice.

Ichiro will prolly gone down as the best hitter in history, but a lot of ppl have no idea who he even is.

Imo. ichiro sheer brilliance. greatest pure player of the 21st century, you are right, no one knows

This is pretty much true. He's almost an alien the way he can hit a pitch anywhere it's placed. Too bad he can't get on a team that can win him WS.

~~I hope the Yankees don't read this post and try to get him next season.

I am phycihly beggining pn my knees to the rockies management to trade for ichiro. just 2 years of ichiro. thats all we need. 2 years. championship.

Right now Ichiro is 756 hits away from 3,000 in MLB. I think if he plays another 4-5 years he'll probably get it. Going along with his 1,278 in Japan that would be pretty amazing.

yep, i think u have to account for his time in Japan. I say he stays with Seattle his whole career. Hes prolly the most humble guy in MLB. He will be rich in Seattle, but he could make crazy money on another team, but he doesnt want the money or the attention that goes with it. Class act all the way. We have never even heard him complain about how bad his team has sucked all these years, i think only 1 post season for him in Seattle?

i would think ichiro want to at least go to the post season. just looking at todd heltons career he never even really sniffed it untul 2007 and now its almost an expectation. Ichiro must want the competition for the playoffs...doesn't he? If I was him, i'd ask to go to a contender then come back to SEA for retirement/

I dont rmember, but when he first came to MLB, did he have some sort of clause with Japan that said he could only play with certain teams?........like Yao Ming does with China. Every great player wants to win, but idk, it seems like there are other things involved with his situation.

I just had to turn down a set of free tickets to the Rays Vs. Rangers on Wed. :slap:slap I'm too broke to afford to use free tickets. I'd also have to drive 7 hours each way to get there.

He was put up using the posting system. Seattle won with their $13 million bid.

Much better than the Sox and the infamous $51,111,111.11 bid for Daisuke.:slap

The media just despised him. What I find sad is that no one ever seems to talk about the amazing things he did. Face it, in an era where EVERYONE (for the most part) was on the stuff he was still doing things that no one else could do.... Also, his career seems to be thought of only in terms of his prolific power, but that was honestly towards the end. With Pittsburgh and his first 6-8 years with the Giants he was a fantastic all around player. Power, average, speed, glove were all top notch as the three MVPs and multiple gold gloves he earned early in his career would attest.

i think everyone respected what Bonds did (prior to the juice). everyone thought he was a HOF prior to the homerun records began to fall. :dunno
