St. Louis......1
Philadelphia...0 Final

Wow! What a surprising upset.

The "Dream Team" of starting pitching is out in the first round. :google

That's the thing about baseball, a 1-0 game is just as exciting as a 8-7 game.

Love seeing the lowlifes in Philly crying in the stands. They live and die with that team, every strike or ball like they deserve every call, so poetic to see them deflate.

Who would have imagined LaRussa leaving a pitcher all the way through 9 in a deciding game.

Glad to see the Cards move on. Not really that big of an upset as the Cards had the Phillies number this year. Next round should be interesting.

Haha you haven't shown up since rippin on jeter when he was batting .240, he finished at .297 :lol

5 WS titles in my lifetime already, and October baseball seemingly every year is good enough for me. :D

.297 6 HRs 61 RBI's and 15 million dollars later and you're laughing at me. Boy you aren't a very smart baseball fan.

This guy is in his first full year in the majors. FIRST.
.307 10 HR's 66 RBI's and cost the Cubs 440k

I'll give you a veteran as well

Johhny Peralta
.299 21 HR's 86 RBI's and cost the Tigers 5.2 million

bravo GM.....you just won the exact same thing as Brian Cashman did. Nothing. Like I said before. Jeter WAS great.

You aren't a very smart baseball fan if you think for a nanosecond Derek Jeter's contract has anything to do with Peralta or any other clown you bring up based on 1 or 2 years performance.

Jeter will be worth more to his franchise, sell more tickets and merchandise even if he was hitting .100 at age 40 than Peralta will in his entire career.

Bravo GM, Cashman won another division title, made the post season again and will be rewarded with another contract this off season.

Yankees don't reward people for anything short of Championships.

Last night was satisfying seeing the Phillies go down like that. Nice reality check for the Philly fans who had no doubt that they were going to be World Series champs this year.

As a Yankee fan, I am just disappointed. I'm tired of seeing A-Rod and Tex do near nothing each and every postseason (minus '09 for Arod). Don't understand why Girardi didn't put in Jesus Montero more to help spark the offense. I miss the days when George Steinbrenner would speak out when he saw things he didn't like. A-Rod's making over 30 million dollars/season to be an easy out.

If the Yanks don't retain him, the Twins will gladly take him to replace our clown GM. :wink1:

That's a balls busting 6-year, $143 million left on that contract. He'll be 42 when it expires. :horror

Really? Then I guess they won't bother resigning CC Sabathia if he opts out right?
Cashman will...

He'll be back.

Oh, 'the Boss' is not there anymore. So the schmucks running the team now, are way more lenient.
Yep.

Amen brother, amen!

Have to agree. Teix has been horrible in the post season but there's no replacing him. Arod has been pretty bad too but I'm giving him 1 pass for coming off surgery, though he had a zillion chances to ice the series.

I don't expect Swisher to be my playoff stud, but we need someone to step up like Bernie Williams who went from good in the reg season to great in the post season.

Ha. Derek Jeter got that contract because he used the media against Cashman. Jeter was offered lower contracts but turned them all down until Cashman gave in. Jeter hitting .100 doesn't sell more tickets. Keep celebrating division titles and post season births. They don't mean squat. Cashman is nearing the end of his term. New Steinbrenner will find someone who can win the big one.

I'll take division titles and post season births. My team went 73-89.

depends on how big your payroll is. Baseball is a market share league. Meaning some organizations are just fine with losing because they make so much money from the league. There are always going to be 3 or so franchises that spend twice as much money as the rest. Sometimes it pays off and sometimes it doesn't.
