Re: The Man of Steel

Seems there's been more Aussies / Brits etc in the big roles these days, than Americans - period. :huh :lol

Part of it is that great American actors are well-known, while great Aussies and Brits are largely unknown until they break through over here.

Bale was cast as Bruce Wayne because almost nobody knew him ... so they'd look at the screen and see Bruce Wayne rather than that actor they knew. Same goes for Cavill and Superman. Casting a household name as Superman or Batman would destroy the illusion they're trying to create. Aussies and Brits seem to have a solid crop of talented no-names that fit the bill.

As the world gets smaller, nationality gets blurred (and almost unrecognizable). It's called Globalization.

Most countries and states have embraced the American culture, especially with entertainment. We all enjoy the same things.

Yeah.. I'm aware of all that. :wink1:

I was just making the observation - but anyway..

..maybe GL would've done miles better if they cast an Aussie or Brit in the lead too. :lol :monkey3

Re: The Man of Steel

Til a couple of guys who were up to no good
Started making trouble in the neighborhood

... then one day he was shootin' at some food, and up through the ground come a-bubblin' crude ...

(Story fits better with rural Kansas than getting his ass whipped in West Philadelphia.)

Re: The Man of Steel

I care less about where Cavill is from and more about how he's only been in one film I've seen (Immortals) and it sucked.

I only know him from the Tudors, where he was ok. I certainly wouldn't have pegged him as charasmatic enough to play the role from his performance on that show.

My sister knows him from something and said he as great.

I enjoy lots of American entertainment and British Entertainment too, it seems though that Americans mostly enjoy American entertainment and Americanised adapations of foreign entertainment :lol

Re: The Man of Steel

I have no idea who Cavill is. All I know is that he's some British dude playing Supes.

I knew who Bale was from American Psycho and Shaft. Originally, I thought he was American. Before Batman Begins, before he was even cast, that's who I wanted to play Batman. "The guy from American Psycho". Everyone on the internet wanted it too.

Still don't know who Andrew Garfield is. All I know is he has a pretty long neck and he plays a Spider-Man that I want to punch.

Re: The Man of Steel

I knew Andrew Garfield from The Social Network. He played Eduardo Savarin, and did a good job of it.

And he plays a Spidey that is eons ahead of Maguire's for me

Cavill - never seen him on film

Re: The Man of Steel

I think an American should play Bond after Craig is done. He should say all his lines like the dumbsh-ts at a renaissance fair who shout Monty Python quotes in bad british accents.

Yeah, it's strange, but, even in some of the interviews for BB and TDK, it seemed like he kept his "American" accent. It got to the point where, upon hearing his accent for the first time, I let out an "I iz confuzed."
