I haven't been up here in a while but I'll chime in with my opinion. I think the reason Clark leaves Smallville is because something happened, and we see that in the trailer. Maybe he saves too many people or the incident with the bus where a boy saw what Clark did. People treat him like an outsider a freak and outcast because he's different. He wants to get away from all the glaring eyes and innuendos. He goes as far away from Smallville as possible somewhere like the ocean where no one can see him and buys a small fishing boat to do some honest work with a small crew or alone. Then when threats to the earth come hurtling he makes a stand that his earth father would be proud of and his birth father would approve of by embracing his destiny.

Handcuffs? Well that's just to show cooperation. A show that he respects earths laws and will abide by them no matter how ridiculous he feels wearing them. That he will uphold those laws and help in anyway he can and never be a threat to his foster home.

Dunno. Maybe I'm wrong. But sounds pretty good to me.

Re: The Man of Steel

Guess you are wront. If I saw someone save me and a bus full of people, I'll be praising him and become his friend. Not outcast him or innuendos, that makes as much sense as tits on a dog.
Also, when he comes back people will still remember him and his name so leaving makes no sense to get away from that.

Dogs have six tits so what the hell are you talking about? You obviously have never lived in a small town where everyone knows everyone else's business. Gossip and scandal go hand in hand. I'm just saying we don't know the circumstances surrounding the bus incident. For all we know maybe Clark kills someone accidentally or isn't able to save everyone and is blamed for a death. When things go wrong even a hero or the heroic act can be punished. Like saving someone's life who did not want to be saved then being sued because you broke their ribs trying to resuscitate them.

Don't judge till we know something for sure.

Yup. It's funny how kids movies are so simple and get things right most of the time.

Re: The Man of Steel

I wish they'd just release the trailer now. From the crappy CC cam footage it looked awesome.

:lecture:exactly: I'm unsure of any confusion. Unless there's a major plot turn we're currently unaware of, this explanation felt pretty obvious to me.

Thank you. This is superman for God's sake. He always does the right thing no matter how hard that may be.

I grew up with Superman the Movie. I saw it in the theatre when I was 5. Reeve will always be Superman to me. I loved it then and still have a special place for it in my heart and memory as a child. But all children grow up and now I would like a Superman story that is grown up too. I still want him to have his ideals and stick to his principles but be faced with more grown up challenges and decisions. The ultimate Boy Scout being thrown into a world of darkness and doubt to be that light humanity lacks to show them the way.

Maybe zod is the first kryptonian to reveal himself and people are frightened of him. And rightly so. So when another emerges all they know is fear but to show them they have nothing to fear from him he cooperates with what they need him to so to feel safe.

Imagine Zod, sitting at a table of the unites nations or congress or the senate, discussing terms for the worlds surrender to him when someone speaks out against him. If you could move faster than the eye can see and had devious intent all you would have to do is blur over, and crush the mans windpipe, sit back down, and watch him suffocate. Or perhaps a bigger show of force is needed like microwave someone from the inside with heat vision until their eyes and brain boil out of their face and ears. That would probably strike fear in humanity.

Now another comes and of course everyone would fear two aliens over one. Would you really trust someone with that much power to always do the right thing? I'm not sure I could without proof and evidence. Even then you'd watch your back for signs of an anterior motive. No one on earth is that good so how could someone from another planet be? Especially after seeing what Zod can do.

If someone could kill you in the blink of an eye and there would be no witness that could see it or prove it, wouldn't you be terrified?

We love superman because that's who he is and we know him. But to a world that doesn't trust comes more slowly. Even great villains have saved people to earn trust and just when we trust them the most is when they turn on us.

I may sound a little paranoid but these fears are real and I have a feeling they will be the basis for the tone of this movie. Or at least I think they should be.

Re: The Man of Steel

Is it safe to assume the trailer we're getting with The Hobbit is the Comic Con one? As much as I'd like to see a new trailer, that CC trailer was so unbelievably awesome with the Thin Red Line score and everything. To have that in HD would be glorious.
