Re: The Man of Steel

I would propose the hell out of that.

But that's me. Only because i'm a big fan of mostly action scores. Just what makes for a better car ride. :D

Re: The Man of Steel

Lincoln needs to come out here in the UK so I can see what the hype is all about :lol

I would hope it's not the kind of "this movie rocks!" hype that has become the standard these days. It's just a great, very understated film. Spielberg lets amazing actors and a solid script do most of the work in a way that is absolutely refreshing. Great stuff.

Re: The Man of Steel

oh yeah, I'm definitely not expecting a bombastic thriller :lol

Good. :lol. If you can deal with terrific actors reciting insightful dialogue to each other for 2 hours you'll definitely enjoy it. :)

That said, there actually is a decent amount of humor and even some tension in the film. Spielberg even makes the vote on the 13th Amendment suspenseful. That is true mastery.

Re: The Man of Steel

Agreed. I like most of Zimmer's work and his Batman scores are good, but they are insidiously overrated around here. INCEPTION remains his best work to date. And Williams' LINCOLN score makes TDKR its *****. :lol

Yeah, Zimmer does some really good stuff. I don't have the OS to that. I may have to grab it. Williams Lincoln OS is amazing IMO. I've listented to it a lot since the movie came out. It totally captures the time period of the movie and feelings I think that go with the movie.

I agree. Its a movie I think if you appreciate if you like great acting, a super solid story, love that time period, etc. I love that ear of US History more than any other, think Lincoln is the greatest US President, and the social impact of that decsion (compairing it with some social issues I think we need to confront today) it hit me emotionally.

I'm curious to see what someone from the UK thinks of this movie. I don't expect you to have the attachment to the material say someone from the US might.

Re: The Man of Steel

Einstein was instrumental in facilitating the development of the atomic bomb, proving he was a foolish optimist. :huh

He also came up with the theory of general relativity among many other breakthroughts in human scientific achievement, going against established 'truths', proving that foolish optimism can be an invaluable asset

It goes both ways.

Good. :lol. If you can deal with terrific actors reciting insightful dialogue to each other for 2 hours you'll definitely enjoy it. :)

I love character dramas, i'm sure i'll enjoy it - though yes I too am curious to see whether not being American will mean I don't quite find it as powerful as some of you Americans do.

:nono Does not apply, you are most attached to a fictional place where hobbits, orcs and wizards live.

:rotfl

Well, then I think you will at least enjoy it for that aspect of it because movis aspects of it are awesome.

I am attached to that world. One of the reasons I love it is it feels "historical" in nature. That being said right now Lincoln is the best movie I've seen this year.
