Re: The Man of Steel

I don't really like that song to be honest. Much prefer this new version.

Re: The Man of Steel

I know, I know. The Nolanz and the Zimmer can do no wrong... despite Zimmer being one of the last composers on Earth I'd ever choose for Superman. Even this Superman.

Oh well... It is what it is and what's done is done. Can only hope he surprises with something different than his current norm.

Superman needs an iconic theme/march, for starters. Every incarnation has had one... from the Fleischer toons to the radio show to the TV show to Williams and the Timm Animated Series.

Re: The Man of Steel

Yeah i've been saying they shoulda kept it for a long time now. (and least some of it) But it is what it is not gonna change now. But the music that was playing in that trailer was garbage IMO, movie looks decent so far.

Re: The Man of Steel

when you get nolan and hans together again is nothing but solid gold.
this is going to be the movie of 2013.

this trailerl looks amazing.
WOW

looks like marvel movies going to have to step it up to this quality of filmaking. DC gets all the epics.

the bigest superhero legends ever BATMAN AND SUPERMAN.

Re: The Man of Steel

Jerk!

The only reason you hate is because your young little brain cannot wrap itself around the epicness. :pfft:

I love the JW score.

I just don't think it's right or that it fits for the images and words I've seen of this film so far. Doesn't fit this interpretation.

You can't just put a great score into any film. It has to fit the mood of the film

Re: The Man of Steel

Nostalgia can be blinding. :monkey1

It's like those videos of Nolan Batman scenes and Danny Elfman music. It's too distracting and doesn't work very well.

Not saying there is anything wrong with the John Williams score itself. :wink1:

I don't care for the music they did use in the trailer either, but it fits the mood they were going for much better.

Re: The Man of Steel

People seriously are claiming Zimmer is better than Williams? :slap

Williams is the better composer. That's not an opinion. That's fact. I like Zimmer's work in the films they appear in and add to the mood but very few sound good on their own. They're boring and redundant. Williams has a much better range of work. And the SM theme is classic. It should have been used like the Bond theme. No matter who is playing SM and no matter if its a reboot or not, it should be there. Even if used minimally like in CR and QoS...

This trailer looks ok. Not pumped but I'm no Superman fan. I wonder if this will indeed be linked to JL. Is that confirmed?

Re: The Man of Steel

It's funny. I've seen fan trailers for the Nolan films with the Elfman score and it just doesn't work. Like wise, I've seen trailers of the Burton films with the Zimmer score and it doesn't work.

With this though, the Williams score worked. :huh

Re: The Man of Steel

I wish I could say what the score for this film would have been had a contract glitch (and phone call from Nolan) not dictated that Zimmer get the gig.

Zimmer's score will be the single biggest creative contribution to the film with Nolan's fingerprints (other than the story/script, of course). If Zimmer is not up to the task (and by that I mean he's not up to reinventing his style for this) then that particular dropped ball will all be on Nolan. But the Nolanites will love it regardless. :p

Re: The Man of Steel

Where is that being argued?

The contention is that JW's score is not appropriate for this version of Superman.

That being said I do prefer Zimmer's best work over JW's best, but Zimmer is nowhere near as consistent as JW was.
