Absolutely. You already have people like SOLIDSNAKE in this thread crediting Nolan for a trailer he had nothing to do with and he himself hadn't even seen until last week.

I expected someone to put the JW score on the trailer, and damn if that doesn't work better.

They've been making James Bond films for 50 years and every official film has used the Bond theme. Daniel Craigs films are night and day from the Roger Moore films, yet the Bond theme is always there. It's part of him.

So is the John Williams theme. It should be played at some point.

Bond theme is not the right analogy here - there's been 20+ bond films

The closer analogy is the Elfman theme and Batman

Before BB came out the internetz were full of people who said Elfman's score should never be replaced. It had been used in BTAS as well and was synonymous with Batman

But it wasn't used and guess what - things turned out just fine

Even Elfmen's score for Batman doesn't have the power of Williams. If Star Wars Episode: Disney doesn't use the Theme then that would be a better analogy

I never thought the Elfman theme would work for a realistic Batman. It works for cartoons and outlandish movies, but would stick out like a sore thumb if applied to Nolan's films. The Williams Superman score feels more timeless and universal, and I think would work fine with a movie with a different tone.

No it wouldn't because presumably Star Wars is going to be a story continuation not a reboot

Zimmer and JNHs TDK trilogy score is top drawer, it's had an impact on action film scores already - there's been tons of copycat scores following from that style

Man of Steel is it's own movie. They're acting as if no Superman movie has been made before it. Adding the Williams score to the soundtrack would defeat the movies entire purpose.

Some people still haven't grasped that for ASM. Despite it being a reboot, i'd prefer J.K Simmons to return to the role of JJJ (rebooted version of course) because he's just that good, same with the Williams Suerman score

But people were just stating the Williams music worked well with the trailer (and it did), that's all.

They just stated that it sounded better and fit the scenes and tone.

Bond is a better comparison. If I recall, Elfman was done with Batman after Returns and the scores were modified for Forever and B&R which had new Batmans.
