Re: The Man of Steel

Oh please. Nolan has come up numerous times..which is to be expected since he did help write it and is producing.

But you quoted me when void and I were discussing Zimmer. :lol

They were only modified slightly - the main motifs were there were they not? I don't know I've not had the misfortune of watching those two films in a long ass time :lol

Intros were completely different.

Re: The Man of Steel

But people were just stating the Williams music worked well with the trailer (and it did), that's all.

Did anyone post,

"OMG, WILLIAMS SHOULD DO THE MUSIC FOR DIS, NOT ZIMMER."

today?

They just stated that it sounded better and fit the scenes and tone.

:lol Seriously? I think that would imply that they prefer the Williams score.

Yeah, John Williams for the win.

Williams score worked so well. I wish they kept it.:(

Yeah i've been saying they shoulda kept it for a long time now. (and least some of it) But it is what it is not gonna change now. But the music that was playing in that trailer was garbage IMO, movie looks decent so far.

I actually preferred the Williams score overlap. Very nice.

It's Amazing how music can make a big difference. :clap:yess:

That score is so perfect, i got goosebumps.
Nothing, NOTHING! Will beat the Williams score.
It's a shame they couldn't keep it, oh well

:lol:lol:lol

I hope you're not talking about Batman Forever and Batman and Robin. Their soundtracks were completely different.

And Elliot Goldenthal ironically said the same thing Zimmer did, he wanted to move away completely from what Elfman had done.

Re: The Man of Steel

The bond films each have unique soundtracks, but the Bond theme makes an appearance for the Gunbarrel sequence and perhaps another one or two key moments.

I expect a new score by Zimmer. But they could and should have the Superman March at some point.

Re: The Man of Steel

It's just a ****ing trailer! That's not even Zimmer's music!

:lol

Exactly! And people are already talking about how they miss the Williams score. :lol We haven't even heard what Zimmer has done yet.

Well ill be damned
Like I said, I haven't had the misfortune in years :lol

:lol

Exactly

I was quoting you about this:

Your response:
Unfortunately, there're too many people here with Nolan's peepee on their breath, so that wouldn't work.

But to your credit - I will admit I read Voorhees post wrong. I thought he said we should leave talk about Nolan out of this thread...but he was instead referring only to the complaining about Nolan.

So my bad. :lol

Re: The Man of Steel

Zimmer does good work. I think his best job is the gladiator OS and its one I personally enjoy. There is just something about Williams and the magic he works with music. I'd say of the OS on my iPhone he'd have the largest share of albums. If I had my choices I'd go with Williams to do this but since that shipped sailed we will see how zimmer does.

Re: The Man of Steel

Then you'll much prefer this one:

Yeah, John Williams for the win.

Damn, that was incredible. I'm hopeful that Zimmer will bring something good to the table, but dammit, I prefer that. I think that Nolan's Batman was such a different animal that Elfman's theme would never have worked, but that did, and it was glorious, and, to quote the great Liz Lemon, "I want to go to there."

Re: The Man of Steel

People seriously are claiming Zimmer is better than Williams? :slap

Williams is the better composer. That's not an opinion. That's fact. I like Zimmer's work in the films they appear in and add to the mood but very few sound good on their own. They're boring and redundant. Williams has a much better range of work. And the SM theme is classic. It should have been used like the Bond theme. No matter who is playing SM and no matter if its a reboot or not, it should be there. Even if used minimally like in CR and QoS...

This trailer looks ok. Not pumped but I'm no Superman fan. I wonder if this will indeed be linked to JL. Is that confirmed?

I know right? :lol its gives me the lolz...zimmer isn't on the same planet as john williams

Re: The Man of Steel

No, but it almost could be. It sounds like some of the music he wrote for Gladiator.

The song in the trailer was written by Lisa Gerrard - who yes did some work with Zimmer on Gladiator. It's her voice more than anything that is so unique that it's quickly recognizable.

I personally would be surprised if that song was even in the movie. I remember when the 300 trailer came out and it had a NIN song - which I thought fit the trailer perfectly. I was pumped. That song or any NIN/Trent song was no where to be found in the actual film.

Same thing happened with Terminator Salvation. NIN was featured in one of the trailers and even made it into the Soundtrack, but was no where to be found in the actual film.

Re: The Man of Steel

:wink1:I hope this soundtrack is so good that Nam hates it...:wink1:

All batman movies should've had the 60's theme and all superman movies should have Williams.

Lets not forget
Harry Potter
Fiddler on the Roof
Close Encounters
E.T.

And those are his most memorable one besides the ones that have already been mentioned like
Star Wars(all six films)
Superman(all four films)
Indiana Jones(all four)
Jaws(all)
Jurassic park(all)

Then his not as recognizable themes he has written like
Saving private Ryan
Empire of the sun
Hook
Far and away
Schindlers list
Seven years in Tibet
The Patriot
Memoirs of a Geisha
Catch me if you can
Tin tin

Re: The Man of Steel

That is arguably the best and most iconic Batman theme. I AGREE.

It would work for all the Batman films as long as it had a montage to accompany it.
