Re: The Man of Steel

I like how they aren't afraid to steal ideas from other places - they use the crouch, build up power, launch into flight that was first on Smallville (and I thought it was really cool there too).

Ooops, not quite...

WB, still stealing from themselves, did that in The Matrix Reloaded the previous year, 2003 at 1:38 into the clip....

Re: The Man of Steel

I enjoyed Smallville for what it was. Its flaws were not few and far between, but it was a fun show, and I watched every episode from the first time it aired, and I do not regret that decision for any reason.

40 out of 218, why so many. :lol

:lol Well, I ended up also watching a lot of the "Justice" episode because I heard Dr. Fate was in it.

I came away with 2 revelations:

1) "Smallville" was not for me. At all.

2) Geoff Johns (who wrote that episode) really does not get these characters and has been elevated to his position at DC based on hype and sales. Dude just sucks.

Leaked review https://comicbook.com/blog/2013/03/05/man-of-steel-review-henry-cavill-is-superman/ by person that purports to have seen early screening. If this review is the real deal it contains spoilers. This guy is a major batman fan... Full review can be found here :

That does not really tell you anything that cannot be deduced from previous trailers.

I call BS, greatly fleshed out BS...but still BS none the less.

Re: The Man of Steel

I may be one of the few who liked Smallville more in the earlier seasons and when it actually was a freak of the week type of show. Once it started getting into convoluted conspiracies and destiny and all that stuff, I started to roll my eyes more and more. I also didn't like the move to Metropolis either. What I loved was the interaction between Clark and Lex, and how Lex started out as almost an anti-hero before they made him go full villain. Sure, the freak of the week thing got old, but with a few tweaks it could have worked in the same way Buffy and Angel worked where it was episodic for the most part, with an season-long big bad in the background that would be defeated at the end of the season.

I LOVED Chloe and I always hoped her character would be the catalyst to make Clark commit to being Superman.
I always felt the last episode (or thereabouts) would be of her dying in Clark's arms, with Clark finally realizing that Chloe was the one he should have loved instead of Lana, and that he would be inspired by her belief in him to become a hero. His guilt for not being able to save her would also push him. He would become a reporter also because of Chloe, and eventually meet Lois (but no relation to Chloe). Lois would be like Chloe 2.0 and he'd feel like he's getting a second chance and not overlook the smart, pushy type :).

Alas that's not how it played out. I stuck with the show til the end, but those last 4 or 5 seasons were a chore to watch for me.

Re: The Man of Steel

I liked it up until Lana was a reincarnated witch who was boinking the schools coach. At that point i gave up.
