Re: The Man of Steel

A straight up villain who became bald :wink1:

I must have seen an episode from a different show, the lex I saw had a full head of hair and worked at the daily planet. Lol he was marrying Lois in the episode, and put on some virtual reality glass where it showed him flying around as superman with really cheesy facial expressions. I tried to find the clip on you tube but it must be so bad that nobody had the ***** to post it.

Its this episode but clip only shows the end. Here is lex. I must warn you even 3 minutes is hard to watch

And here is smallville at its worst. Lana get the **** out nobody cares:

End of Season 1.

The show went on for another five wherein his character became bald :wink1:

Re: The Man of Steel

Sometimes its about choosing to watch the lesser of too evils. I mean do u watch the "biggest jackass" or the kard"***"ians reality show or a crappy episode of smallville. If you are implying that watching smallville makes you less of a fan of superman I think your logic is flawed and your making a major assumption. In fact you could take the opposite stance and say "those that chose to watch american idol over smallville are less interested in superman".. at least that inference makes logical sense. Although I would never come to that conclusion or generalize like that.

:dunno I don't watch any television I don't want to. Most of it is terrible. Smallville never had much to do with it's source material, and instead always felt (at least to me) marketed towards the teenage/young adult soap opera crowd. My logic is fine. I like the Superman comics, cartoons, and most of the movies. I didn't like Smallville because it didn't feel like Superman to me.

:lecture 100% agreed.

Bad television is bad television, no matter what the genre. Yeah, "reality" TV is garbage, but it's just another evolution of the creative nadir that is modern television. Seriously, even the news channels are crap now. The only thing worth watching on TV are live events and the documentary channels.

The best option is to just watch a good movie, play a good game or, God forbid, read something. Television is ****.

Re: The Man of Steel

I've been pretty focused on movie hunting for a while now. :lol

TV does suck.. except for some exceptions like docos etc as mentioned.

Good point, I guess because my cable bill is so much I watch the crap. Maybe I should consider cutting oy some channels. I pay too many bills that I don't use very often, namely insurance. If I pay for it I want to use it. I can't really cut out cable completely because my son watches cartoons and would freak out without a spongebob fix. Thing I hate about cable companies is they make you buy channels in bundles instead of letting you choose the channels you watch. You end paying for a bunch of **** you will never watch just to get one freak in channel you do watch!

I can see the frustration. Are seasons or episodes of Spongebob available on DVD? If so, that would have to be much cheaper than the bundle fees you're paying for that one channel. Just an idea.

Re: The Man of Steel

The only TV shows I watch, and love are cartoons. :(

Cartoons, or the one's I watch, are far better then anything on TV at the moment. :(

These days, the writing, acting and directing on TV Shows, particularly cable, can be as good or better than movies.

Smallville was alright. There were some really good episodes in there, in between the teenybopper junk, weird plot tangents, and high school soap opera. All-in-all, it was worthwhile.

Re: The Man of Steel

You guys are way off. Current shows that are top-notch: Sherlock, Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire, Justified, Utopia, Archer and Louie. And though it pains me- The Walking Dead, Mad Men and Dexter. I have also taken a liking to Legit and Derek.

You are right though- 95% of whats on TV is complete garbage.
I implore anyone who thinks TV is 100% **** to try any of these shows.

Re: The Man of Steel

Actually, he went off the rails with GL a long time ago, too. He resurrected Hal Jordan, then completely ruined him by making him a one-dimensional *******. And Johns is also one of the reasons the movie failed.

WTF. Seriously??? That happened?? Who the hell was this show for? Certainly not males above the age of 15.

I stopped reading around the blackest night period - until then I enjoyed his GL work a lot

Re: The Man of Steel

I hardly watch any TV anymore. I usually watch sitcoms as they are easy to watch and just fun to have on in the background.

Elementary is the only drama i'm watching, with TWD and True Blood on Blu.

I HATE the reality TV show crap that is pumped out these days and the endless singing and dancing competitions.

When did Dancing become about gymnastic flipping about :cuckoo:

:goodpost: Agreed with these 3. I still need to check out Sherlock, but these are the only reason I keep cable besides the Science Channel.

On topic, I am really getting excited for MOS. I can't wait to see if people (general public) turn around their perception of Superman. I talk to so many people who just can't stand Superman as they view him as corny and not an interesting character. But with Nolan's name attached these same people all say they will check it out. I really hope this film turns around public perception on Supes.

I knew we were in for something special as soon as young Clark said to Pa Kent in the trailer "What was I supposed to do? Let them die?" And with Pa Kents reply of "Maybe" I knew this was the version of Supes I have been hoping we would get to see on screen. This movie will kick *** for fans, I hope the general public make it a success box office wise.

Re: The Man of Steel

My two must see shows right now are Game of Thrones and Sons of Anarchy.

I have a very sceptical view of most reality TV and feel like most of it is (poorly) staged.

My feelings exactly.

Also - Sherlock will blow away everything else you've seen on TV. Except maybe Breaking Bad.

Re: The Man of Steel

Sherlock is amazing but it's going to be forever before they do season 3.

Dexter is inconsistant. there are good seasons and there are really bad seasons. This last season was good up until the last three episodes (which felt tacked on).

I will check out out Sherlock soon. Waiting to watch them with my girlfriend. Worst part about being in a long distant relationship when we can only see each other about once a month right now.

Breaking Bad will be tough to top, I love the characters of Walt and Jesse so much. Hope it has a satisfying ending. So many shows I loved have middle road endings which undermine the entire series. Looking at Lost and Battlestar Galactica in particular.
