Re: The Man of Steel

My problem with smallville is that it would have some really good episodes sprinkled in with a bunch of filler/crap. The pilot was good, seeing Clark develop powers in season 1 was cool, Season 2 wasnt that great. Season 3 was good. Season 4 sucked. Season 5 had a few really good episodes. Season 6 had the episode zod and titan which was cool. Season 7 and 8 was complete crap (felt uncomfortable even watching it). Season 9 was actual good with lana gone and season 10 was a let down after a decent 9th season.

If you take all 10 seasons and weed out the crap episode you have about 22-50 really good episodes in 10 years. So you got like 2-3 years worth of episodes.
I'll be honest and say I watched even the crap episodes just to get a superman fix. Then again I hate reality shows so even a crappy episode of smallville seemed more appealing then American idol, amazing race, the biggest jackass or whatever other reality **** is on.

Without small ville, big bang theory and Spartacus I would have had nothing to watch.

Re: The Man of Steel

I know I'm in the minority, but I felt Smallville got better as the show progressed. Season 5 - 9 were probably my favorites of the series. The first seasons were great, but as they explored the mythology more and more, I thought it got better. My favorite part of the show was the relationship with Clark and Lana. I still think they were meant for each other. :(

The only character Geoff Johns wrote well was Green Lantern. But then wasn't he involved in the film :lol
Actually, he went off the rails with GL a long time ago, too. He resurrected Hal Jordan, then completely ruined him by making him a one-dimensional *******. And Johns is also one of the reasons the movie failed.

I liked it up until Lana was a reincarnated witch who was boinking the schools coach. At that point i gave up.
WTF. Seriously??? That happened?? Who the hell was this show for? Certainly not males above the age of 15.

That's not even the most ridiculous plot point involving Lana. The worst by far was season 8 when they turned her into a superhero with kryptonite armor lol. Only good thing to come of that is she was written out of the show because she couldn't be close to Clark anymore. That 3 episode arc was awful (some of the worst I have ever seen)

Somewhere in the world there is a Lana with a green glow flying around!!!

Re: The Man of Steel

I watched the first half of season one and thought it had potential. Then the producers started talking openly about "no flights, no tights" and showing a basic contempt for the iconic character. Smallville was a Twilight version of DC. As a Superman fan that was a dealbreaker for me.

I can roll with the punches on dodgy continuity. Lois Lane in Smallville? Wierd but whatever. But for ten years they couldn't bring themselves to tell an honest Superman or Superboy story.

You can travel the world and people know who Superman is and what he looks like. You cannot do the same with "The Blur".

Re: The Man of Steel

Smallville was trash.

It did last 10 years. It wasn't great but it wasn't as bad ad Superboy or Lois and Clark cheese!

Lol you ever try to watch Superboy or Lois and clark . Omg talk about complete trash! I am surprised either of those shows lasted longer then 1 year. I watched about 15 minutes of a single episode and was in shock at how bad they were. So ya as superman fans the only reason smallville was acceptable to watch because its sadly the best TV show about the character to date. That doesn't mean it was good it just based on comparison to what we had before it was perceived/received to be better then it was.

Re: The Man of Steel

I find it hilarious that Clark supposedly did all of that before he was actually Superman. :lol

Re: The Man of Steel

I never understood the appeal of Smallville. I've always kind of figured that the show was crafted for and received by non DC/Superman fans.

Sometimes its about choosing to watch the lesser of too evils. I mean do u watch the "biggest jackass" or the kard"***"ians reality show or a crappy episode of smallville. If you are implying that watching smallville makes you less of a fan of superman I think your logic is flawed and your making a major assumption. In fact you could take the opposite stance and say "those that chose to watch american idol over smallville are less interested in superman".. at least that inference makes logical sense. Although I would never come to that conclusion or generalize like that.

Re: The Man of Steel

I totally get that Smallville has it's audience.

I've watched a couple of episodes here & there over the years, but I just couldn't get into it.

Not my thing really.. :huh

Re: The Man of Steel

I prefer the adventures of Lois and Clark over Smallville. :lol

Re: The Man of Steel

Amazing how people have different opinions of things. I couldn't stand that show it was so cheesy. It was like a day time soap opera lol

So was Smallville. And atleast in The Adventures of Lois and Clark he actually wore a costume. :lol

Atleast lex Luther was Bald in smallville an was a villian what the hell was lex in Lois and Clark?? But your right both were cheesy just one was more cheesy in my opinion and it wasn't smallville. These are just opinions though so they don't mean much.

Re: The Man of Steel

Thing is - while the best thing about Lois & Clarke was definitely Teri Hatcher.. :lol, Dean Cain as Superman, was just as out of whack as Jason Mamoa as Conan. :lol

Re: The Man of Steel

Honestly I don't care for either. That's what makes me so pumped for Man of Steel, because it looks like we will finally be seeing a "badass" Superman. I just hope it lives up to the hype.
