Re: The Man of Steel

Realistic = Based in the real world with no fantasy elements.

Grounded in Reality = Based in the real world and any fantasy elements have to be rationally explained as to why they exist.

At least that was always my understanding about the terms when used in this context. :dunno

Yeah this is kind of how I was thinking of it. I'm thinking you have some fantastical characters (superman, Zod etc) and the world around them is kind of realistic. Fantastical characters put into a realistic setting. Seems pretty simple to grasp. :dunno haha.

Re: The Man of Steel

Yeah that sounds about right.

Thanks. :hi5: :lol can't wait for this film. Like others have said, weird there's been so little build up or hype for it. Really hope we start to get some new images and a new trailer soon. We really need an awesome superman film. I love the original films but we need a nice modern version too.

Re: The Man of Steel

:lol I know Darth, but then I don't think there was too much going on for TDKR either if I remember correctly. The teaser, then a couple of trailers. Other than that it was just rumours of the story I believe. I could be wrong though. Hope it's not a bad sign. Maybe they're just waiting for the film to hit with more of a bang and hoping that it'll stand on it's own. Maybe they just have that much faith in the film.

Re: The Man of Steel

Grounded in reality = Boring serious business and a term 20 somethin' year old kids love these days

Don't even say reality anything, just ****ing say, "we're making a new Superman movie where the hero is grappling with what it means to be "good" in a world that is reacting to his superhuman existence".

That's basically what the movie is about. Nothing more. It'll be as "grounded" as any other Superman before it. Cept' maybe that one with Richard Pryor or the Nuclear Man. That was weird ****.

There ain't gonna be no grounded anything since we don't live in a world where dudes fly around shooting laser beams out of their frickin' eyes and smash into the ground fist first without a scratch.

Sure, they might try to obnoxiously explain every reason until our ears bleed from all the exposition, but what does that mean? A movie is a movie. Enjoy it and have fun, it's SUPERMAN. Lighten up.

Re: The Man of Steel

Everyone's afraid to camp it up every once in a while. Everything is so dour and depressing. HAVE SOME FUN YOU FROWNY DOPES. :lol

Well said mate. :lol

Re: The Man of Steel

Grounded In Reality: Superman goes back in time to save Tom and Martha Wayne, Superman romances Lex Luthor's mother away from his father before conception.

Re: The Man of Steel

As long as this grounded reality includes a cellophane "S" that Supes can toss off his chest like a post-it note, I'm cool. :rock2

Re: The Man of Steel

I just hope the "S" doesn't stand for a "symbol of hope" like the bat logo. That would be lame.
