Re: The Man of Steel

No, I liked Superman 1 - but this obsession that some people have with origin stories is beyond me. We better never, ever see another Batman origin and I mean never again! [...but we will *big sigh*] Spidey has had his origin told twice in very short succession.

Perhaps this will be the franchise where we get the origin out of the way, and we just move on in the next film without going through all that AGAIN.

Actually, I misread your post, you said 2 seperate films, I was thinking Superman 1 with the Krypton/Kansas/Metropolis in one movie.

My bad. :lol

Re: The Man of Steel

What I don't understand is how disappointments like TDKR and IM3 had absolutely stellar reviews on RT before plummeting once they were released. Are they really cases of critics being paid off by studios? There's no way in hell IM3 deserved some of the respected reviews it got.

It's simple comic fans are disappointed we are so stuck on what the movie should be while regular people enjoy it for what it is .

They are paid off but it is also the hype machine. You see the same crap in video games. Every game is basically a B+, if you're lucky. But we see 9.0 and 9.5 and it's just complete nonsense because nobody wants to burn bridges. Call of Duty, Fifa...my Fifa game barely works.

I honestly think its the comic book fans that hold these movies back because they mercilessly defend a movie that really isn't good enough. TDKR and IM3 are good examples of this. People should have higher standards to push these movies to greater heights. Most of us just shovel the junk into our mouths and scream about how amazing it was. I find that much more annoying that fans who are disappointed at the failed potential of a movie. But maybe I'm bias because I'm clearly the latter.

That's funny because apparently comic book fans are the ones *****ing about TDKR and IM3. :lol

TDKR>IM3 and I hope MOS > IM3 too

Re: The Man of Steel

Im a die hard comic fan, but I also see the need to separate the comics and the films. They are not the same. I love TDKR for having the ***** to tell a story that the comics never will. As grest as Knightfall is, it cannot be adapted into a 2 1/2 hr film. I try to limit my complaints tonthe film I itself. Like my problems with STID, stem from it being a bad movie in general. The fact it was a bad Star Trek movie is secondary.

Re: The Man of Steel

The review bio put up says the fights scenes are better than avengers. From the tvspots and trailers they may be right

Re: The Man of Steel

Hot damn. Landed 3D tickets for the 7pm Thursday 13th show at the local WM today. Leaving with the family on a 2-week trip to WDW at 4am on the 14th ... thought I was going to have to wait 'til the 29th, at the earliest.

Worked out nicely. I'll get to see it ... get to bed by 10 or so, and be ready to go at 4am.

IM 3 is still doing well on RT, maybe your bias and tears are the real issue? :lol

Re: The Man of Steel

The only way MOS could be as bad or worse than IM3 is if Kal-El discovers that he can telekinetically control the suit and send it off to fight Zod (who is actually just a Kryptonian actor set up my Faora who was pissed Jor-El turned her down for the Kryptonian prom several thousand years ago) and then in turn kisses Lois Lane and gives her his powers to kick Faora's ***... grrrl empowerment style... while he convinces himself that he is Superman just by being a success for a leading newspaper. Maybe in the sequel he could become CEO just to hand that over to Lois like a supergimp!!! :horror
