Re: The Man of Steel

Look, I thought IM3 would be a no brainer hit all around. It may have been a financial success, but it was the biggest critical letdown I can remember Marvel doing since maybe FF2. MOS has alot to prove and it knows it, so there's a good chance it will be a much more enjoyable flick than IM3. I know there will always be die hard IM3 fans out there, but wow I just can't support that amount of character sabotage.

Re: The Man of Steel

78 percent is just a'ight. Not amazing. Not a masterpiece. Wasn't it higher before the movie came out?

No idea, one of the comments from a comic book fan who didn't like the movie to a reviewer on the release day was that they couldn't believe it was at 81%, maybe "plummeting" has a different meaning in your vocabulary. :dunno

Movie fans love Iron Man 3.

Comic Fans hate Iron Man 3.

Movie fans >>>>>> everyone. :lol

Pretty much. I'm a comic fan though and still liked the movie.

Of course comic book fans couldn't possibly be movie fans. If Ebert were still around, he'd give it two jaws up.

:horror

Re: The Man of Steel

They're not. They don't understand the thematic elements that the Mandarin twist had. They just care about their racist character being on screen. :lol

Re: The Man of Steel

IM3 is the Marvel TDKR for me.

Happy's injury felt hokey.

That last set piece on the boat was a hot mess.

:exactly:

I loved the Mandarin twist. It was the rest of the film's uneven tone and full-retard last act I wasn't a fan of. It's fun, mindless entertainment on the first viewing, and the pimple on the *** of the Marvel Cinematic Universe on the second.

Re: The Man of Steel

The hate makes no sense to me. It never will.

But then again, I didn't expect Iron Man 3. I expected anything different.

It ain't perfect. But it's far more interesting, and ballsy then most of these movies. It's nice to take some risks. Despite the audience.

Yeah, I was glad for a departure. Nice to see something different. Thats what makes me so pumped for MoS... no trying to fill the original shoes, peeping on the ex Superman. :lol

Re: The Man of Steel

I don't hate IM3, I'm just indifferent. I like that Black had the cajones to include a twist like that as well, but it just wasn't enough to make that movie stand out in my mind. I walked in marginally excited, and walked out saying "meh, is it June 13th yet?"

Re: The Man of Steel

I'm glad I expected a Shane Black movie out of a Shane Black movie, and not a generic Iron Man suits up and fights a few mechs.

Re: The Man of Steel

I know I know, IM2 was not well liked because of the Shield connection and weak action, but I think IM3 was hurt because of the lack of Cinematic Universe connection after the awesome Avengers.

At the end of the day, just like IM2, RDJ saved it.

But man did I love those Mandarin videos.

I think my expectations were a little too high, as, the last time Black and Downey teamed up, they gave us Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. I wasn't let down by IM3, I just didn't really feel anything for it. I didn't even have a desire to see it again, it was just "well, okay, that's over now."

I even saw GL twice in the theater. :rotfl

Same here. A friend of mine wanted me to go see IM3 with him (it would be twice for me), and I was like "sure, what the hell." My friend's a big fan of the new JJ Trek movies, and Into Darkness came out the same day he wanted to go see Iron Man. So, he sees it, and says that he didn't know it came out on a Wednesday. Long story short, I was like The Emperor whispering in his ear. "Well, you know, we can always see Iron Man some other time; it was pretty good, but I know how much you like Star Trek."
