Re: The Man of Steel

Iron Man 3 would not be the same film as Man of Steel. One is a crime/spy thriller, the other is probably a big epic action film.

Two different things. The only similarity they share is their main character comes from a comic book.

Re: The Man of Steel

Hope this movie lives up to the hype and potential and it's automatic acclaim is earnt.

I hope we get a grand emotional journey of a hero who is well developed and set against impossible odds which he overcomes with difficulty, and pls god no comedy one liners.

IM3 was more like a comedy drama IMO.

While I don't mind well done comedy in superhero movies like Stark and Wolverine in FC, I agree that IM3 was a comedy drama.

Re: The Man of Steel

That first "meh" review was pretty odd, not sure it was real, of all the things you could say about MOS, being slow definitely isn't one of them?
:dunno

Just read that second review, pretty much sums up my feelings on the movie, especially the last part.

What I don't understand is how disappointments like TDKR and IM3 had absolutely stellar reviews on RT before plummeting once they were released. Are they really cases of critics being paid off by studios? There's no way in hell IM3 deserved some of the respected reviews it got.

It's simple comic fans are disappointed we are so stuck on what the movie should be while regular people enjoy it for what it is .

But I know several casual moviegoers who thought those movies sucked compared to their predecessors.

Re: The Man of Steel

If this was posted before I apologize but I try not to spend too much time in these threads before seeing a movie.

Personally, I think they should stop changing things just because bad things happen.....

https://movies.yahoo.com/blogs/movie-talk/man-steel-tornado-scene-too-soon-205309769.html

...Oh, God help us all. The whole idea of this is so freaking ridiculous. As if removing tornadoes from movies will stop them in real life.

Next: ban all guns in all movies from here on out, because a murder once happened somewhere with a gun. :panic:

I am just disgusted with this whole line of stupid thought.

...These people seem to be suggesting that Superman's origin be split into two films, so we can "build his character" more?!! Do they have any idea of how stultifyingly dull that would be? Are people going to sit two hours to watch Kid Kent grow up, and then in movie #2 we can finally start the action.....?

People like this make me LMAO. They should shut up and go watch World War Z. I hear THAT ONE has all the talking-heads "character development" they could want.

It's the simple case of expectations set in one place.

People expected one thing, and they got something different. That's a good thing.

I expected Iron Man 3. But I got Kiss Kiss Bang Bang 2: Harry meets James Bond. And that was refreshing and really sold the movie on me.

I liked IM3. But.... this is the first of the three films where Stark talked so much that he started annoying me. I found a lot of the voice-overs just overly talky and just loading on the snark just a bit too much. I get it that Stark is snarky. But this time out, he seemed to need a Valium really badly. I was sitting in my seat thinking "Shut UP and just do your thing so we can watch."

Hypermanic. That is the word I am looking for.

Superman 1 is just like that and it doesn't suck. :dunno

Re: The Man of Steel

No, I liked Superman 1 - but this obsession that some people have with origin stories is beyond me. We better never, ever see another Batman origin and I mean never again! [...but we will *big sigh*] Spidey has had his origin told twice in very short succession.

Perhaps this will be the franchise where we get the origin out of the way, and we just move on in the next film without going through all that AGAIN.
