I feel kinda douchie for sending a question in to Ask Sideshow, but I did, and here's what I sent.


Mara Jade fans have been patiently waiting for any news about her PF release for almost a year now. Last anything we heard was at the 2011 San Diego Comic Con when Sideshow confirmed that she was being based off of Adam Hughes' art - then nothing more. What happened? She was supposed to show up in 2011, and there hasn't been any hints or teases about her release to tide fans over. Is she cancelled? Is she waiting for approval from somebody? At the very least, can you tell us whether she'll have a purple lightsaber swap out hand (since the AH! picture shows it un-ignited and clipped to her belt)? Thanks!

I'm not proud of it, but if they answer it, cool. At the very least, I couldn't let a Mara Jade thread have its last post showing a picture of Lara Croft

Thanks for asking Sideshow - I sent them two questions concerning Mara Jade in the last months myself but didn't receive an answer.

BB You know I’m a Star Wars guy… Well, we were talking about the C-3PO and R2-D2. These have been a labour of love for three years, so I’m really excited to see them come together and make it to fans’ hands. The other ambitions of Star Wars PFs go in the tradition of Darth Talon. We have a couple of great females coming up. I think those may have been teased already.

DMM Mara Jade has been mentioned, and I seem to recall seeing some sketches for a Shaak Ti…

BB I think we’ve shown a little of Aayla Secura’s design. She’ll be coming up real quick along with one of her lovely female companions. Then we’ll be getting back into more armoured and interesting Imperial stuff.

uhmm... you do realize that she has a major lazy eye right? I'm really holding my heart for this one as well as the Vampi PF
SSC just made to many screw ups for my taste and the way they handled them just made it worse...

anyhow, I'm really waiting for a Mara Jade PF

What a weird interview. He was specifically asked about Mara Jade, and he dodged the question, saying Aayla and one of her companions would be coming. So if that "one" companion isn't Mara, too bad it's trooper time? Is Shaak Ti that one companion?? Lame

Well they said Aayla Secura would be joined by "ONE" of her companions.

SDCC this year showed Aayla and Shaak Ti so I guess that means that Mara is not moving forward for a while more at least.

Well, there are only a few teases about here, nor real concepts.
She was listed in a SW PF overview "a long time ago"^^ and should be based on the following artwork (don't know where this info came from).
She's also teased in this star wars video panel at 1:02

Like it very much, hope they put her out next year because im backed up on orders but I would like an update of sorts to let us know she is in the works, maybe someone can use ask SS, im to lazy.

Q: WHAT’S THE STATUS ON THE MARA JADE PREMIUM FORMAT? I TALKED TO ADAM HUGHES AT COMIC-CON AND HE SAID IT SHOULD BE HAPPENING SHORTLY.

A: AH! Every time someone so much as whispers the possibility of an Adam Hughes design at Sideshow, the team here becomes giddy. Duels have been fought over who should receive the rights to bring it to life. It can become quite messy.

We have been working on our presentation of Mara Jade, taking our time and ironing out the details as best we can. But sometimes in order to properly deliver the perfect figure, the team has to step back and take a breather while focusing their efforts on other projects. We’ll return our attentions to the Bride of Skywalker soon enough.
