Watching that video Alfred looked short against his Hot Toys Batman.
It got me doubting myself because Alfred looks perfect next to the Saturn/Mars Batman.
I had the HT recorded as 11.75" above the soles of his boots. Measuring figures is never easy, even when laying them on a ruler or tape measure, especially when you have to judge where the head is under the hair.
No hair for Batman as it's compressed under his cowl, but I'm always cautious not to damage the suits or capes with the ruler or tape measure which makes it awkward.
Ideally it would be best to measure them as in real life, with a horizontal bar that slides down the ruler until it touches the top of the head, then deduct the height of the boot heel. (Wouldn't work so well for characters with a lot of hair).
One thing is evident: the Saturn/Mars is a little shorter than the HT when you put the figures back to back, which makes it the perfect match for Alfred.
It bugged me enough to take them off their stands and measure them as accurately as I could.
Laid each one on top of a ruler positioned where their foot would be above the heel of the boot.
HT Batman is 30cm / 11.811" :
Saturn/Mars is 29.6cm / 11.653" :
These were the photos I took when Alfred arrived, recording him as 12.5" above his heels:
So it has to be the angle of the filming in the video that makes Alfred look short, where in reality he must be 0.69" taller (or even taller still since his heels look higher than Batman's).
I know from photographing the '66 figures that the camera frequently lies. It only takes being slightly above or below the level of their heads to throw off the comparison.
One of the few photos I took that actually showed the proper height difference was this one alongside the Mars/Saturn:
The difference there, in terms of actor heights, would be 5.082".
The difference between HT Batman and Alfred would be 4.134".
Celebheights' estimate was a 4.5" difference.
This line is never going to be
truly 1/6 because the benchmark was set by Hot Toys' short Batman (and now compounded by Mars's even shorter Batman).
Though it doesn't really matter since these figures are displayed with one another, and they look right together.
The measuring exercise at least satisfied my curiosity.
