Sure sounds like a convenient term to bandy about to avoid any criticism.
I'm not avoiding anything and toxic fandom does exist whether you believe it or not. It makes no difference to me if you, or anyone else, like the show or not and no one is telling you that you can't post in this thread.

Sounds like you hit a nerve with an old-timer

Lets get you to bed Grandpa

A large problem is logistical in nature.

There is more original scripted programming available than ever before. And many networks are pumping in substantial money because they saw the kind of viewership and cache that AMC got for Breaking Bad, Mad Men and Walking Dead.

The name of the game is "prestige" television.

So that means someone like Jessica Gao gets an opportunity because she hits certain marks on a checklist ( Can we all not pretend that this issue is not in the forefront in current Hollywood.....) But also because there's a shortage of experienced writers and show runners to go around. AMC hit a sweet spot. They grabbed talented guys like Matt Weiner and Vince Gilligan from other successful shows. But before the demand for people like that set in widespread. Now you have to reach deeper and dig farther into a more limited pool that's been spread out.

I see what Feige and the MCU are doing. People might hate Harvey Weinstein, but he and Miramax took risks on low budget projects that yielded high returns. That's a good strategy if you choose well. Instead of just doing big risk/big reward/big failure type projects like Eternals, Feige is mixing in some smaller properties that he hopes will generate enough revenue to balance out the shortfalls in the stuff that bombs.

She Hulk clearly carries the problems of a show run by someone with inexperience. Maybe Gao will get better over time. But it's unfortunate that her learning curve might come at the ill will of those who are long time fans of this specific property.
Makes sense to me.

She's been nominated for her work in Silicon Valley and won Primetime Emmy for her work in Rick and Morty.

From her filmography, lots of comedy there.
Just needs more experience.

What did the hell did i just watch lol

Hands down the worst thing to come out of the MCU.

Did they really introduce a certain character in that freaking manner I mean seriously IN THAT FREAKING MANNER!

:slap

So was
Abomination there at the meeting just because he was paid because he clearly helped Jen Walters escape the attack

And holy crap did Jenn actually look straight into the camera while smirking and say that she also “smashed” Matt Murdock as in you know what!

I dare any Hollywood studio to have a male heroic actor stare right into the camera while smirking in any movie, but especially in the biggest franchise in the world, and say that he “”smashed” a woman!

Yeah that’s not happening lol

S01E09 - "Whose Show Is This?"

I was SO looking forward to this that I stayed up to watch as soon as it was available for streaming - I was NOT disappointed :love

Blimmin' brilliant! (AKA "awesome" for you North American types) :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap :yess:

Once again with the multiple laugh-out-loud moments . . . and a great mixture of DAMN clever + funny + risqué + inventive . . . and going further down the 4th-wall route than anything I've ever seen before. Lots of twists & turns, and a beautiful way to finish the season AND expand on characters already introduced, while adding a new one (along with all that implied!)

Just loved it :blissy

I've also realised that besides being TOTALLY charmed by Tatiana Maslany (who could not POSSIBLY have been better cast), and thinking She-Hulk is hot, her sidekick (played by Ginger Gonzaga) is cute as a button too . . . I think it's the patterned pantyhose on those legs of hers - maybe a psychological connection to the fishnets on the aliens from my fave franchise? :naughty

Aside from that god-awful E07, I think everyone involved with this can rightfully be very VERY proud of what they have achieved/delivered.

Can't wait for the next season :banana :banana :banana :bunnydanc :bunnydanc :bunnydanc

Perhaps the reason that some freaks here are so deeply outraged and hurt by this show/finale is because some of the content and themes hit a little close to home and touched a nerve.
It probably does, yes. The complaints here are akin to a 5th grader complaining about Teletubbies. Its different shows for different folks looking for different vibes. If I was going to watch something serious, its definitely not anything based off a comic book...

Some of the comments here and elsewhere are just silly - being negative just for the sake of it, but some folks are being reasonable with their reasons for not liking it. We can't all agree all the time (I'm going for a 3% rule . . . may be optimistic . . . but heck . . . cup part full and all that :p ).

That being said - my fave part of this episode was the way they took shots at Disney-Marvel writers & production teams, and in the same breath got totally meta (and accurate) about portions of the internet & comic-fandom. SOOOOOOOO well done . . . I was laughing my ass off at their clever humour, self-awareness and objectivity, and was cheering them on! :yess:

Yeah I felt the same about that. I was not expecting that at all for them to take 4th wall to that level. Thats why I said earlier I wonder how far they will take Deadpool 3.

On one hand, the direction of the finale is so off the wall bonkers I can appreciate it for that.

On the other hand, watching a marvel show make fun of marvel writing and the marvel movie machine was a bit like watching The Boys make satire of giant corporations while streaming through Amazon.

I'm unsure how to feel about this.:lol
