It's a lot better, and Spider-Man 2 isn't that good at all. At least it has some memorable moments. Nobody will be talking about Homecoming once the sequel drops, actually they probably forget about it once the next Thor releases.

I have no problem with people enjoying this movie, but the Keaton great villain thing is ridiculous. That guy has some extremely loyal fans.

:lol at the ice cream.

Every line we're laughing about has Wor-Gar going

and SNIKT going

;)

:lol:lol

I was really happy with the comedy in this. The right tone, the right delivery and the right balance. For those who didn't like this, I wonder how they feel about GotG2 or Hemswoorth's "roommate Darryl" brand of comedy bleeding into the Thor trailer

Only cringeworthy lines we're

When he first activates Karen and want's to locate the Spider Tracer. In reference to Shocker and the other dude he's tracking: "They're bad guys"

That and the interrogation mode scene was great until he the end. "You deserve that, you're a bad guy" was fine, but then he had to kill it with "Mr. Bad Guy" or "Mr. Criminal" or some ****.

But I get that those lines are aimed at the younger portion of the broad audience, so I suck things like that up

SM2 is still great. Sure, certain approaches, dialogue, acting and effects have become dated, but the outline for that movie is really good. Take that outline and redo it with today's standards and it'll be the Spidey movie all are dying for.

The bank to building fight, and the subway fight are as iconic as a Spidey fight scene could get. Sure, I would've liked to have gotten something like that in Homecoming, but I get why they chose a different direction.

I will say Doc Ock has a lot of screen time in SM2 and Vulture could've been as impactful of a villain if he had at least one more powerful scene

Agree with most of what you said, I actually like Spider-Man 2 now more than I did back then, but it has a ton of problems that are hard to overlook.

You say Vulture could have used one more powerful scene, but I can think of just one powerful scene he had. Seriously, while in the suit what did he do that was memorable? The car ride scene felt absolutely forced to me, especially with Liz telling her father Peter is best friends with Spider-Man. How people can compare that TDK interrogation scene is sickening.

I don't think I can compare this to spidey 2 . Way to different in style. I just see them as completely different but if I had to choose spiderman 2 comes on top.

:slap

And you guys think pturtle is a tough critic?

I'm actually not :lol

And while I like it more now than I did back then I don't think it's even remotely close to being great. It does however have a ton of great things in it. I also respect what Raimi was trying to do with it, and I like how it progresses Peter Parker's story.

Spider-Man 1 is much better though.

SM1/2 are indeed good movies and SM2 was considered one of the best cbm ever made until TDK came along.

Sorry Wor but you're on your own on this one.

But like pturtle I actually prefer 1 but both compliment each other very well.

I'm gonna play Devil's Advocate here and agree that Spider-Man 2 is inferior to Spider-Man 1. :monkey3

Both are CBM classics IMO, but for me the merits of SM1 outweigh the merits of SM2.

You all had to be 15 years old or younger back then to think SM2 was a great movie. Its the only explanation.

Its like the people who say "Goonies" was a great movie. You had to be 8 to think its great.

I was 27 when SM2 came out. And Goonies IS a great movie!!

Wait, am I lost? I thought I was in nostalgia land? Can someone point me to that forum where the 30+'ers obsess over figures, Sci-fi and comic characters?

I agree, I needed to see just a touch more riveting action for me to love Vulture as some do... but I did really like him. In this case it's what he did on screen outside of the suit as much as what he did with it.

This flick isn't as polarized as BvS or some other DC flicks, but it definitely hit some in the sweet-spot and it soured others. If you can't connect with the direction that went to make this different than what's been done, than you'll definitely be in the soured camp.
