I'd have had him be Mysterio.

I like Mysterio and Chameleon, but I could see why Spider-Man 4 would have emphasis on Vulture and Blackcat.

Honestly, those storyboards and that premise seems really cool to me. Would it have made Mysterio and the like look like Nolan Scarecrow level *******? Sure. But it would be fun to see in the beginning, especially in opening action sequences. I mean, isn't that what we just saw with Crossbones? I would have liked more him, but what was there wasn't terrible.

They would have made Vulture creepy and cool I'm sure. That's probably why they intended to make the villains in the opening weak and "villain of the week" types. To make Vulture a legitimate threat. Look at what Raimi and Co. did with Doc Ock. They took a fat, bowl cut looking, mad scientist dude and gave him some dimension. Their Doc Ock is one of my favorite comic book villains. No reason Vulture wouldn't have turned out well.

Doesn't mean a damn thing anymore though. Hard to believe that stuff is almost a decade old now. I remember being on here when Spider-Man 4, Raimi and Maguire were announced, then a couple of weeks later it got dropped.
Yeah, I think it could have worked as well. I'm just against the general argument that those two characters should be distinguished by their level of importance. You could just as easily have Vulture treated like a joke early, and then made Mysterio the bad-ass, A-level villain in the film. But it's arbitrary.

Yup. It basically comes down to what someone's personal preference is for the villain they won't to show in their movie.

I consider Mysterio a classic old school villain alongside the likes of Green Goblin, Doc Ock, the Vulture, Sandman, Electro, Lizard, Scorpion etc. (woah, I just thought about it, isn't it weird how most of Spidey's villains are green?) but I could see why they would only want to focus on one.

I remember after I saw Spider-Man 2 in theaters and being so hyped after how good it was, I thought for sure they wouldn't have any problems with another 2-3 films and fleshing out Sandman, Vulture, Mysterio, Electro and Chameleon out individually after handling the feud between Harry and Peter/Goblin and Spider-Man. Boy was I wrong.

So can mysterio. Have spidey hallucinate about uncle ben and some crazy ish.

Logan Marshall-Green (Prometheus), Donald Glover (Community), Martin Starr (Silicon Valley) and Kenneth Choi (CA: TFA) have all joined the cast.

Still waiting on the official press release for the film that announces who all the actors are playing.
