Well that clears that up then.

Without going off topic too much though, one of my fave things about the Spawn film DVD, is the extras - namely, the interview with Macfarlane.

Without dropping names, he pretty much spells out the DCCU's game plan years in advance. He pulls no punches, & I love that. If only we got that R rated animated film he was talking about.

It's unfortunate that the decent things about the 1997 Spawn film get overshadowed by the rubbish things about it - which in fairness is like 30 / 70 anyway. :lol

I'm a fan of the movie & the book (the early stuff). MJW as Al Simmons was perfect, Leguizamo as Clown was brilliant, & the Spawn suit & practical stuff was excellent. The rest was a combination of wet poo & vomit put into a blender & served in a sports drink bottle.

The soundtrack is pretty good at least :lol

it should have never been rated R

here is an excellent analysis and review of spawn (worth seeing)

I had been lucky enough never to see the Spawn movie until a year or two ago when it was played at a house party on one of those hi-def TVs with a setting that makes everything look like a 90s TV show. So that probably made it even worse.

But c'mon, the clown was awesome. :lol

Have you ever watched the HBO animated series?

It makes DC animated movies look like saturday morning cartoons.

It is mind blowing good, especially Spawn 1/2.

Spawn 3, while still good, quite didn't match 1/2.

Such a great show to watch anytime but especially during Halloween.

I prefer seasons 2 and 3 myself. They had better animation and focused on story telling instead relying on HBO shock value.

It is. It always struck me how Dobrev looks like a younger version of Emmanuelle Chriqui (Sloan from Entourage)

-edit- Hah, sure enough if you google images of Emmaneulle it brings up Dobrev comparisons, so evidently I'm not the only one who noticed this. Both stunners

They do look very similar, yeah - & both stunning indeed. :duff

Yup, the Spawn HBO show was great. It took the good aspects of the comic and left out the corny 90s stuff. In general, it was brilliant, and I'd take a new season over a SKWAD Sequel or another Spider-Man reboot any day of the week.
