I like that they're going after real actors - RDJ, Norton, etc. But I do think Thor needs to be bulky and tall. I guess they could CG his abs like Cage in Ghostrider, but I don't know that would work for the whole film, especially if it's all Asgard, no earth like we've been hearing.

No...a "younger" (and perhaps pre-Weapon X) Sabretooth is played by Liev Schreiber (sp?).

I love the idea of going after Pitt for Thor. He WAS Hitch's inspiration for the Ultimates Thor and when Pitt wouldn't allow his likeness to be signed off on, Hitch changed the look but always snuck a couple of shots in....the only Ultimates member which actor signed off on was Samuel L Jackson. A lot of Iron Man was taken from the Ultimates reimagining and parts of Hulk look that way too so it wouldn't surprise me if Thor will be heavily Ultimates inspired.

You have to broaden your horizons, the 616 Thor was massive but even in more recent times that Thor has been slimmed down a bit to look more toned than muscular. A God doesn't need to be massive to be powerful, going for the Ultimates version especially the Ultimates backstory where society thinks of him as a loonatic over a deity for the most part because they can't believe in Gods would be a realistic way to handle it.

The question though is would he do it?

I hate the Ultimate Universe, but for the most part I really like Ultimate Thor Backstory....And like you, I also think part of it should be incorporated in the movie.

I loved Tyler Mane in Troy as Ajax he was an unstoppable killing Machine......that is until Hector (Eric Bana) killed him :monkey2 but then Achilles killed Hector so maybe Pitt would be alright as Thor???? who knows :monkey1

The problem with Brad Pitt playing Thor (among many size wise which might be fixed through camera angles and CGI) is that the actor is too identifiable and it would be difficult to distinguish him (ie the Brangelina we all know and have stuffed down our collective consciousness through the wonderful media) from the character he's playing.

I disagree there Neil, a bit....Pitt made some awesome characters alive on the screen and I dont think about Bradgelia when I see them....

Guy can act and create Bad Ass characters...I think he'd pulled a great Thor...Even if he's getting kinda old....But since they have made the 50 years old guy from Beowulf look like a buff 30 years old man in his prime, I think in Hollywood they can do anything now.

I agree with ALL of those choices--- but they're all pre-Brangelina. The media has made him into his own brand-- and that's a bad thing for an actor who needs to disappear into many personas. Tom Cruise's antics have completely destroyed any future roles... Brad might have a hard time being Thor because people will only see Brad... It's a shame because in contrast to Cruise, Pitt's hype has not been brought on due to negative actions--but rather it's merely his association with another humanitarian (Jolie) and his outspoken attempt to help the less fortunate (New Orleans... Darfur... etc.).

Look at his performances recently in Mr & Mrs Smith, Ocean's movies... Was there a different person there or was it just Brad Pitt?

Pitt does not have the size for Thor.

No way and I agree....he is just annoying now, has been since he got with Angelina.

<sigh>

I disagree a little. I agree that Pitt is not the right choice, but not for the publics' ability to identify him--while it's a good point, though I think little overthought.

Suspension of belief makes movie watchable--the Brangelina thing included.

Thor needs to be an unknown actor. Otherwise, you're just seeing Brad Pitt look like "thor" instead of seeing THOR.

And I really like Brad Pitt, just hope he doesn't get the role, well maybe not so much anymore, seeing as thos Angelina has his balls

Thor NEEDS to be able to ACT!!! Not some No-Talent ********! which is the problem with unknown actors.

One could argue that Edward Norton and Robert Downey Jr are too recognizable as actors to pull off their characters but RDJ did it phenomenally and Norton looks to have done the same. I think Pitt as Thor would come off as Thor and not Pitt. The guy is a great actor and people don't really give him enough credit because of what happens off screen....I mean he's not Tom Cruise or anything so cut the guy some slack. :lol
